I can tell you that Lexel will not work for a large separation.
3 attempts with differing methods & it didn't hold each time.
Mine is fully separated across the top edge.

Will be ordering a new top & DIY once I get paid from selling my Explorer.

Rubber molding for 2011 R57 back window availibility

I have the same issue with the back window on the convertible top coming unglued. I have been told that the back window on my 2011 R57 mini has to be sewn in, HOWEVER it is glass and repair shops apparently do not want to do the repair. I noticed in some of the threads that at one time there was a rubber molding, gasket, weatherseal or whatever, used on the convertible window and rivets, etc. were mentioned. Is one available for my car and who/how do I go about obtaining one? Any advice or help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. I tried to use 3M Window Weld for the repair but found out to late that I am now ambidextrous and the job is more than I can do. Again, help Please.

I made a few attempts to re-bond the glass to the top.
It failed every time.
I ended up removing the glass completely & sewing in a vinyl window.

back glass coming unglued

Thanks for your input. Like you, I have tried and lost, but I would really like to know if there is, in fact, a source for a gasket, weatherstrip, or whatever the correct word is, that I can put in the opening and have the glass in place. I have read (and AI says it is true) that it is available but I cannot find any one, including ECS, Pelican, and the others, that shows it for sale. If this is a fairly common occurence it seems it would be something that would have a market.

We dont have those glass pieces or the fabric. Just full tops and some of the trim parts and hardware for the top:

Here are all the parts: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...Cooper_S&mg=54

Then you just copy/paste the 11 digit number into our site.

We dont have the plastic ones. I know their are some convertible top places that sell full tops for near 1K$ aftermarket. We just do genuine top right now.

Thank you. I have used you for material for my Mini before and you were actually the first site I looked at. I saw the framing, but what I need is a gasket to go around the glass and secure it in the opeening in the covertible top. Rest assured that when I need anything else for her, I will come to you first.

I don't think a gasket would be enough to maintain the glass to the fabric.
Too much flexibility for it to keep it in place.
It wasn't worth putting in $2k for a new top on mine, so for around $75 & about 15 hrs of work, I replaced it with the vinyl.

Yep, not available on its own. Glad to help. Only thing i can think of is a shop that does Webasto or Haartz tops = these are really fancy tops used by custom cars and hot rods. Most people dont know that the fancy tops on most hotrods or high end American cars factory = were made by the same people who make the factory MINI tops, Rolls Royce, and BMW. So those custom shops that do those tops would know exactly what fabric twill to use to fix it. They might be able to help and most of the time are right down the road. America is hot rod land.

https://www.haartz.com/exteriors/cloth-topping Haartz even promotes the F57 MINI Union Jack top print on their site.
