I have A check engine light on, Code P0128 showing up. Saying it is running to cold, Which leads me to say on a 2010 S convertible the thermostat housing/pump which i believe is all one piece needs to be replaced. Car isn't over heating i tried just clearing the code but the light came back on. Anyone have any tips on how to replace the pump etc. Would be helpful. Car isn't under warrnaty anymore either by 4k miles.

 

This may not be related but on a drive to Vegas last year I got the yellow "!" check engine and stopped by Desert Mini in LV. Car wasn't overheating or driving funny or making strange noises at that time. They took my key and told me (after getting all its info) that there was a recall for the thermostat and said they would fix it. One hour later all fixed and good as new. Not sure if this is your situation but had another friend with a MINI (not sure of the year) and the same recall on thermostat.

 

Did u have a cooper S and or ur friend?

 

I have a JCW, friend has an S

 

There was a recall for the turbos thermostat/pump. Different from the cars thermostat. Mine had that recall replaced as well .

 

Did you ever rectify this issue? I'm having the same problem.
