r57 bluetooth problem

Guys,
I own a 2011 convertible and the biggest problem is I can hear everyone clearly but no one can hear me. It comes across very broken up and this is even with the car turn off and top up. Very frustrating not being able to communicate. I even lean forward an almost scream into the steering column to no avail. Any other r57 owners experiencing this problem and is there a solution? Thanks otherwise loving the car.

Does your phone have Bluetooth volume? Depending on them phone, it will. The iPhone has speaker, headset, and bt volume (use to, iOS 5 it is now gone). You may want to start there. I have a '12 and have no issue.

I have the same problem with mine. It seems to be a known issue with no fix. I ended up buying a $70 jabra bluetooth speaker. Kind of annoying to have wasted $500 bucks for the oem one.

I haven't taken it to the dealer because no one has reported any solution for the problem, not to mention it's a major hassle to take my car to the dealer. I'm planning on mentioning it when I take it in for the first service.

And possibly part of the reason not to may answers have been given is that this like some other threads on this subject are not in the NAV and AUDIO section where a greater number of people will see it. I do not have an R57 so i rarely visit this section, but I do visit the NAV and AUDIO section regulary (almost daily) and if this thread had not been at the top of this section I still would not have seen it as the only reason i saw it is because it was at the top of this section it shows on the Gen 2 Section sub category list.

Now on to the problem at hand MANY people have had this problem solved by adjusting the "bluetooth volume" on their phones. Another problem is that people do not realize that the ONLY way to adjust the cars "bluetooth volumes" is to do it while audio is running thru that section. In other words to adjust the "cars incoming bluetooth volume" it MUST be adjusted while someone is speaking to you from the other end. And like wise to adjust the "cars outgoing bluetooth volume" the only way to adjust it is to do it while YOU are talking into your phone, so repeat a sentence a few times and while doing so turn the volume control **** "up".

If this does not help you then get back to me in this thread (preferably moved to the NAV and AUDIO Section as i do not get daily updates on the over 2000 threads that i am subscribed to) and I will be more than glad to assist you further.

I've done this. Adjusting the bluetooth mic volume, even during a call, has zero effect on the other party's ability to hear me. They all say I sound like crap.

I have the same problem. Tired of putting up with it for 2 years. Taken it to the dealer twice before, and of course have been told it is within factory specs. My car is there now being checked again, as I can barely hear incoming calls, and most of the time the other party cannot hear me. The tech said, "well it is a convertible you know that right? And you have the JCW tuning kit, which has a louder exhaust, you know that right?" DUH! I asked him if it is a convert and has a louder exhaust, what does that have to do with the person on the other end not hearing me. So ridiculous! I have a blackberry curve 8530, all volumes are all the way up. I will be getting an iphone 4s in 3 weeks, and will pair it and maybe it will be better. IN the meantime, I will see what the dealer tells me on Mon or Tuesday.

I have same problem with iPhone 4. I think it is the poor mic location. Hatchbacks have mic near the windshield top header - much closer to the driver's mouth. It does not make any difference how I have Bluetooth volume set - people say it is almost impossible to understand me and that it sounds very weak. They always sound fine to me. I think we are screwed.

For those of you that have posted here, seriously post your issue in the NAV and AUDIO section. I say this cause I have read that section and schatzy62 has helped a lot of people with this issue. Try it.
