So I have converted the family to liking to ride bikes. However, to go anywhere to ride, we have to take the mini van. The kids would love to take the mini (as would I) to our rides.

Has anyone used a 4 bike bike rack on hitch mount or aware if a company makes one for the mini?

I have a cooper S, but have not done the bike rack install yet.

 

you could install a hitch from MiniDoMore. But it's a 1.25in receiver. And a 4 bike rack on a receiver this size is a disaster waiting to happen. You need to go to a 2in hitch to use a 4-bike rack. Don't know anyone who makes that

You could put the 4 bikes on a roof rack? Or 2 on the roof and 2 on a bike rack on the hitch?

 

I have the roof rails on my clubman with a Yakima set-up. If I face the bikes front to back alternating, I think I could fit five, but that's utilizing the portions that extend out past the supports...

Yakima and Thule both make rack sytems for hardtops that will fit four bikes, then you wouldn't have to have the dealer install the factory roof rack ($$$).

 

Not to sound snide, but I do not think a roof rack is going to work on a rag top mini...

I didn't read the thread location.... anyway, MINIFINI also has a lot of hitch accessories, don't know about a four bike rack, but it's worth a look.
