First post! 102k mi on my 2010. Just purchased my first MINI 3 weeks ago for my daughter's college grad gift as she is going to law school. She has been wanting a MINI for a long time so I finally pulled the trigger. I am really surprised how much fun I have had driving this little car; I never expected to enjoy it this much. Before I give it to her I did some things to the car that from my research seem to be par for the course considering the mileage:
- Cleaned all injectors and replaced one of them
- Replaced the valvecover
- Replaced the exhaust manifold and cat converter
- Replaced the alternator belt
- Replaced coil
- Installed 4 Continental all weather tires
- Oil change
The radio LED has missing pixels when it is hot outside so that needs to be addressed and then it is ready to go for her and will hopefully be a fun and reliable car for her.
mine as delivered used end of August (2018): well.. i changed the antenna...
since added Tune2Air Bluetooth module, Rubber floor mats, Aluminum phone holder off the gauges, 15% tint, MINI logo puddle lights, black headlight/taillight trim, smoke/amber rear taillights, Borla Cat back, Forge intercooler hoses, K&N panel filter and JCW wheels.
2012 Cooper S .... bought used in another state and had him shipped to me. Totally in love! My BMW IS PISSED! One is for summer..one for winter and rain 🤷🏼*♀️ My BMW is PISSED 😂 but I like to have a summer car and a winter car!
Mods which were done:
JCW shiftknob
JCW handbrake
Original MINI CooperS (2007) front muffler > louder than the original MINI JCW (2012) stock muffler
Autool X60 OBD reader
In April 2019 I acquired my first Mini. A used 2013 Cooper S Highgate convertible.
Here I am on the track during 2019 Minis At The Glen. (Thanks to Craig Nelson)
Brought home this 2010 base [triple brown] on Saturday. Needs some work, but not terrible for a free car.
Biggest thing to fix is the rear window is separated from the top. Plan on working on that this week.
Also need to fix the side bits that leak when the top is cycled.
Next biggest is the amp for the HK stereo is inop. Brought a good BT speaker with me for the 65 mile drive home.
After that, it's mostly cosmetic stuff.
Wife/kids already nicknamed it the Poop Coop.
Compared to my Explorer & Expedition this is a mighty nimble kart. The back roads we took home had some quite firm bits that caught me out a bit with how much stiffer the chassis is in comparison.
Cleaned up the headlights, looks much better & should be an improvement over the candles in a Mason jar that it was giving when I brought it home.
Now I just need enough start/drive cycles for the sensors to be in Ready state, so it'll pass inspection. Then I can get it registered & start driving it.
first post, just saying hi. This is my first mini and I’m really enjoying it! Hopefully I can find the maintenance info I need without pestering too many of you. Maybe one day I’ll actually be helpful to someone.
