Always loved them racing green minis. Looking forward to what you'll do to fix her up ( may i definitely suggest black racing stripes) , welcome to the club!

I will definitely consider that
So far the damage is minimal...FRM, BT module and Amplifier...Most of the modules will be reprogrammed and coded. INPA reveled missing VIN info on a dozen of them.

Doesn't sound that bad, seems like she'll be back in glory in no time. Hows the mileage?
Thats pretty rare with the JCW Tuning kit on the R57. Congrats.
Thanks! My pops was the original owner before passing her down to me so he got her new from the factory and decided to get the S instead of a factory made JCW as he did not want to wait the six months for production time, so he had them simply add the JCW engine kit, cold air, and exhaust tuning. The JCW brakes and suspension would be nice, maybe down the road i could do some more work on her once I get some more $$$ to blow
I was driving home mid day sunday while still light out when I was more than halfway through a four way stop intersection. Out of nowhere, a kid on an illegal dirt bike ( no mirrors, plates, registration etc, ) completely T bones the right rear panel of my car. He flips over and I'm freaking out thinking I just killed a kid. THankfully he gets up and is completely fine and we exchange small talk like our names and find out we're from the same town. Here's where it gets interesting. As soon as I tell him I'm calling the police for obvious reasons, the kid starts to get super defensive and pretends to be seriously hurt and injured and that if i call hes gonna say I blew through the stop sign ( I did not and looked both ways, ) and that I'll be in trouble if I do. I remain unchanged and call them. When I do he hops on his bike and jets off never to be seen again. When the cops come they reassure me I was not in the wrong based off of: A where the damage was on my car and B the fact his bike was completely illegal based on NYC road laws. Unfortunately as they fill out the report the officer tells me theres nothing to be done as without a perp, they can't hold anyone liable, or so they thought..
Remembering he gave me his name and we're from the same town I decide to look up his first name and the name of our town on facebook and...BOOM! first result is the kid wearing the same hat and jacket in his photo as he was at the scene of the crash. I now have his full name and give the officer his info who commends me for my initiative and they look him up and find his address. That's not all they found, he also had four open arrest warrants under his name which is for sure why he fled, and they promptly arrested him. Now after describing the incident to my father and telling him the nanme, he realized the kid is the nephew of a close coworker of his from a few years back ( shockingly small town for NYC. ) so at this moment we have two options. The first being going to his house since we know where he lives to settle out of court and drop the hit and run charge which was added to his other slew of offenses and have them pay for repairs, or take them to civil court for the repairs which would unfortunately drag on for a few years.
So thats my story, looking back im glad both of us are ok in the end and hopefully my baby will be back to full health shortly. Stay safe out there friends.
Iced Chocolate body colour. Automatic with paddle shifters and iDrive. Picture of interior while at the dealership. Dark Truffle leather seats feature blue piping and contrasting stitching.
Picked this up in February. Pretty good shape, though it had been wrecked twice, all the repairs looked to be done pretty well, outside of the Cooper S trunk badge being about 2 inches too low and the S put inline, so it reads as COOPERS. Badge will be replaced soon. Just put new OZ 45th Anniversary wheels on it. Wasn't going to replace the wheels when I bought it (had R90s) but I like the retro look of these wheels. I had similar wheels on my 75 Fiat Spyder, from college. Anyways, outside of the wheels, It has a K&N Typhoon kit installed and I've purchased the English Oak interior items off Ebay and I am in process on getting those bits installed and I've started an audio upgrade project. New 3 way components, 2 way components, 12" sub, amps, dynamat, rear view camera and dual DIN stereo bing installed.
Side question - Does anyone have headrest suggestions. These suck, keep you head far to forward, you can't look up at the sky! Anyways, I've turned mine around, looks a lilt odd, but far more comfortable.
First post! 102k mi on my 2010. Just purchased my first MINI 3 weeks ago for my daughter's college grad gift as she is going to law school. She has been wanting a MINI for a long time so I finally pulled the trigger. I am really surprised how much fun I have had driving this little car; I never expected to enjoy it this much. Before I give it to her I did some things to the car that from my research seem to be par for the course considering the mileage:
- Cleaned all injectors and replaced one of them
- Replaced the valvecover
- Replaced the exhaust manifold and cat converter
- Replaced the alternator belt
- Replaced coil
- Installed 4 Continental all weather tires
- Oil change
The radio LED has missing pixels when it is hot outside so that needs to be addressed and then it is ready to go for her and will hopefully be a fun and reliable car for her.
