Owners' experiences with pepper white?

I've always thought of the Mini as a fun, iconic car and at long last I'm going to buy my first Mini. I did test drive an R53 late last year, but decided to wait for the 2nd gen coupe. This forum has been very helpful and informative. I never realized a car could inspire this kind of devotion!

I'm considering all pepper white as the color choice for my 07 Mini, but I'm concerned about what is it like to maintain and how it will wear over time. I've heard second hand that there are issues with pepper white, specifically that it stains, especially around the gas cap area if someone accidently spills a few drops of gas on the car while filling up. If this is true, perhaps this was a problem only on the early models?

What's been the experience of previous and current pepper white owners with that color? Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

Gotta a PW/B 06 MCS and read the same threads prior to the puchase--sofar had a little dribble from the aft windshield washer, but that cleaned up with no problem. No issues to date. PW is a classic color--go for it!

Congrats and Welcome!!
So far so good as far as the stain issue goes. PW/PW is a great combo IMHO. Check out my gallery if you want. Best of luck!

Are you fastidiuous? Black and White need frequent washing to look its best.

I had a 2005 MC, pepper white (with black roof) and never had any issues. On several occasions I'd notice days later that the gas attendant dribbled gas on the paint, but it cleaned up without any staining. Same thing with bird poop. There was one issue, however. The rear windshield washer leaked and dripped washer fluid onto the paint around the MINI badge on the boot door. I had a hard time getting that off the paint...it did stain slightly. But no one noticed it except me. And I think it ended up being difficult to remove because I didn't realize it was there for a while.

We have an '05 PW/PW and have the same rear wiper drip/stain issue, but otherwise he's beautiful. If we didn't already have PW/PW, I think I would have gone in that direction. He's a weekend car, though, and since August 2004, only has a little over 10K miles on him. He is garaged. (And quite pampered by his "dad".)

Thanks everyone for the welcome and the info. You've allayed my concerns about pepper white. I'm not overly fastidious and so while I 'm not bothered by some dust or dirt that is easily washed off, permanent stains are another matter. I'll keep my eye on the rear windshield washer.

There are so many great color choices for the Mini, none of them bad, so I had bounced from BRG to CR and then the new yellow. Finally I had opted for laser blue -- it is a beautiful color -- until I saw a PW/PW Mini and was won over immediately by its classic appearance.

paynemdMINI, your Casper looks great!

We've had no problems with ours, no stains or anything else.

One crucial thing to understand, if you get a pepper white mini (or any white car for that matter), detail clay is your new best friend, anytime we've had something that worries us, detail clay pulls it right off. It even works well for cone marks.

I kept bouncing on the color tiles everyday until I had to make the final decision. I went with red. I have had burgandy, black, white, metalic black, yellow, metalic blue, yellow, and another black. But I have not had a red car. I thought MINI would be the perfect car to have in red. Few days ago I saw a R53 in red/black with black stripes on the road, and I was sold.

If you are worried about stains, keep waxing the area more frequently. around the nozzles and the filler cap. My current car, 91 e30, is white and white is the best color for the classics, IMO. Have you seen old Jags and 911 in white? They are just dreamy...
