FIZZI is Home!

I picked up Fizzi today. I had the jack and the working "secret" compartment. The mud flaps were on it, which did NOT require removing the bumper as the MA alleged. The pick-up went very smoothly at MINI of Sterling. Of course, I have to get used to it and figure out how things work, but my first impression is I Love It! Shifting is quite a bit different than what I am used to, but it doesn't seem like it's that easy to accidentally go into reverse. There certainly is torque steer, though. I will pass along more thoughts as I get used to it. Right now, I am going to figure out how to program all the stuff and get my navigation to shut up!

Way to go LynnEl. FIZZI has to be chomping at the bit wondering why you have not showed off pics yet.

Thanks all. I will get some pics soon. Can't find the **** USB cable for my camera. I've olny driven about 100 miles so far, but it's a blast. (As an aside, I am a guy. My name is a combo of my wife's and mine. She bought me the car, so I put her name first). Any way....... In FIZZI all the readily obvious problems that have been brought up here have been fixed. THe gap around the front wheel arch is small (can't get pinky in it) and even. The xenons are aimed fine. The hidden dash compartment opens and has a storage box in it. The sunroof does not make noise. The engine does tick, but it does not sound like a diesel. I can't hear the tick from inside the car. The engine fan and turbo cooler pump both operate as they should and sometimes run after the engine shuts down. The navigation system is great. A little complicated to learn, but great once I figured it out. Unlike past navs I had, you have a choice of entering locations into either or both the address book and destination list. My previous ones always added the location to the destination list automatically. also, you can change the map scale very easily. There are several slightly different voices, all women. She has a very slight accent, which I can't place. Installing my V1 was super easy. I put the main unit just to the right of my rearview mirror. The remote is plugged into the lighter socket. The straight wire that came with the V1 was just the perfect length to run right from the detector, under the headliner, down the passenger post, behind the glove box, through the rear of the center stack to the remote at the lighter.

Time to go, will report back later. Oh, btw, the car is quick as hell even with the sport button disengaged. This isn't totally subjective, as I leave all the cars wayyyyyyy back there taking off from lights, and going nowhere near 4500 rpm before shifting.

Congradulations LynnEl, welcome to the R56 club.
I also got the SAT/NAV but haven't yet found out how to change the voices. Any hints?

Thanks again. I haven't tried to change the Nav voice. I have since discovered one concern. Although the manual says I can adjust the sensetivity of the auto-on headlights, the feature is not actually available as explained in the manual. They come on way too early.

I have noticed 2 oddities on my MINI so far: 1. The 4 buttons above the rocker switches are for the rear defogger, window defroster, windshiled heating and a/c on. The left most one, however, has no marking on my car. 2. The manual says that I can adjust the sensitivity of the auto on lights. However, that option does not show up on the set-up screens, where indicated in the manual or anywhere else. Anyone else know about this?

The blank button spot would be used if you had the cold weather package, for Windshield Heating.
I chose to not get it, even though it would have only been $30 since i got the heated seats.

Is this what you're talking about (#10)? I know that I didn't get the option that added the heated windshield so my left most button is blank and doesn't move.

I thought the cold weather package was just heated seats, mirrors and washer jets?

Congratulations LynnEl on acquiring your new R56, Fizzi! I'm curious to see how the MINI looks w/o the white or black roof. LB/LB pairing sounds intriguing.

Now find the USB cable for that camera and get some pics of Fizzi posted!

ME WANT PICS! ME WANT PICS! NOW!

Congrats again and Motor On!

Thank you! I have seen a few MINIs with the LB body and white roof. I like it with the blue roof better. Will try to get some pics posted tonight. I also took a pic from the back of the MINI next to out Expedition. Kind of looks like a Mommy whale and its pup.

I'm pretty sure my MA told me that button won't do anything in any car no matter what option package.
