same here... i was actually planning on getting the dark silver up until i saw the laser blue/ white. I figured since i was getting a MINI, i may as well get a brighter fun color. If somehow i got in an accident and the MINI was totaled, i would definitely get another MINI, but probably go for the DS the second time around. dont get me wrong though, i love the laser blue

We went to the dealer with plans to order an Astro Black MCS, checkerboard roof, with all of the packages. Then, we got there, got the order put together, and while our MA was struggling with the printer, noticed that the AB didn't really look all that black under certain lighting conditions. So we had some doubts, noticed how sharp the SS looked, and thought "Let's see how that looks in the daylight." (We were there at night the first time.) We went back that weekend, and the SS won out, and now it'll be here in a couple of weeks! Woo hoo!

We took delivery of our LiB/W baby last night... When I placed the order a couple of months ago, I almost changed the order to OB/W, so I supposed you'd call that my second choice. Nightfire Red would have been a close third.

As for other options, I can't really think of anything I would change or add so far. I'm used to pretty basic cars, so even without the Nav system or the comfort access pkg (which I didn't add because I wanted to keep the total cost somewhat reasonable), my MINI still feels like a luxury car to me.

Good job, MINI, providing tough choices

I think we all struggled with this on configurator, changing colors frequently. This is what you'd want from a manufacturer. For me it was MY, PW, or CR w/black roof. I decided I wanted color that worked for me regardless of what it symbolized and I loved the way CR looked in different lighting - from fire-engine red to deep red.

We had it narrowed down to the following:

Chili Red/White, Nightfire Red/White, and British Racing Green/White...

then we spotted the '06 MC BEP/White at the dealer and all bets were off then.

I was torn all over the place. Although a PW/B would have been my aesthetic second choice, it's not me, so I wouldn't have gotten it. If I couldn't have had DS/B, excluding other roof colors as possibilities, I probably would have gone SS/B or maybe body color roof.

CR/B was actually my second choice.
I took a date with me to the dealer when I ordered Otto. I was planning on getting Laser Blue/ White. When she saw that combo she remarked that CR fit me better.
After receiving Otto, I'm thankful for the second opinion.

This is one of many cool things about owning a MINI. I doubt that there are many other car owners that ever give a second thought about the color of the car they got.

I was originally going for (and had) SS/B, so I guess it'd be my second choice. But my dealer had a PW/B on the lot with the exact options I wanted. Normally I despise white cars, but I find the combo on the MINI, especially with black bonnet/boot stripes, to be SO sharp.

As far as options next time I may spring for the NAV system and perhaps comfort access.

I can't remember where I saw it--perhaps Roundel magazine--but there was an editorial about car colors. The gist of it was that the automakers offer bland colors. MINI was recognized as an alternative leader by offering colorful choices. Since I read the article I've looked around a lot, and he's right--nothing exciting...unless you go to a MINI club meeting!

I'm keeping my color choice for my 2008 JCW MCS a secret for now, but my second choice would be a Purple Haze / Silver JCW MCS. Options would be essentially the same for both cars.

I actually had the paper work written up for a mellow yellow w/ black Cooper. I saw the paint sample for Night Fire Red and kept thinking about it. When I went back to finalize everything, I had them rewrite it to Night Fire. I'm very glad I did!! I love the way the car looks!

My favorite thing about MINI:

NO CHAMPAGNE COLOR!

How many times a day do you see that horrible Champagne/Gold color?

I don't know--Sparkling Silver looks like it to me.

Yup, it's Champers -- as in sparkling wine. Champagne comes from the Champagne region of France. California produces sparkling wine. That's why it is called Sparkling Silver. Couldn't have a French name on a British car, now could we?

I like the Nightfire Red, but it isn't available on an MCS. Chili Red would probably have been my second choice if Pure Silver wasn't available. Dark Silver isn't bad, either.

My first choice was BRG/W ... that looks just sweeet with bonnet stripes. But I didn't want to wait even longer, so I'm 'settling' for my second choice, CR/W. I ain't complainin'!

2nd color Choice

My husband ordered the entire MIni, including the color of DSM/black top. I wanted BRG & a white top, or was it that nice champagne color with black stripes, or maybe the mellow yellow w/blacktop,even the pepper white looked so nice with a black top, not to mention the convertibles, actually I really wanted ORANGE w/black top but they don't sell it anymore. njp
