What Would've Been Your Second Choice In Color/Options?

I just want to hear what everyone struggled between in chosing the color/options on their ride and/or another color you've grown to like even more. For me I was torn between BRG and the dark blue (forgive me for not knowing the actual color right now:o ) but the more I think about it, the Pepper White w/black, Redwood Red interior w/matching steering wheel, shift and e-brake boot and some nice all black 18's would be nice to see. I even have a name for this imaginary car of mine...."Pepper Jack"

I actually ended up buying my second choice (Pepper white/black roof) because it was 1) on the lot and 2) I was way too impatient to order and wait almost 3 months for my all pepper white mini.

gregdconsulting Apr 18, 2007 11:41 PM

My first choice that I ordered is CR/CR. I also had second thoughts about getting the roof black or not. I didn't want black mirrors, don't really want another black car ever, and am getting the sunroof so much of the roof is black anyway.
The true second choice for me was the dark blue. I really like the silver blue that is only offered in the MC and I am getting a MCS so that wasn't an option.
Now when I see pictures and driving around I think many of the PW variants look great and the yellow too. I just don't want to own either of those colors even if I admire them on the road.
Silver seems to be the #1 car color right now, but it doesn't do much for me. I live in Washington and there are dirty silver cars everywhere here. I think the silver looks terrible dirty and to me shows the dirt more than other colors except black. The silver and black when immaculate look incredible, but they just are not for me.

My 1st choice the one i went with was DS/B MCS w/ everything except LSD, Sport suspention and rear Fogs. I would have liked 2 maybe go black w/ white roof and get everythig + the Lsd, SS And Rear Fogs. But hey i still love the car i got

I ordered Pure Silver with same color roof for practical reasons, and I like silver cars.

If I had it to do over again, and Nightfire Red was available for the MCS, I would go with that color. Not sure whether I would have gone for a white roof or not.

The heroine in a favorite Japanese romantic comedy drove a red with white top MINI, and my first car was red...

I've always thought BRG was an excellent color for British cars, and a white roof stays cool.

Dark Silver is an elegant color...

As I see photos of the Mellow Yellow MINIs I'm liking it more and more. I'm old enough to remember Sunshine Superman...

Well my first choice was chilli red / white .Then becuase i had a red/ white cooper ,2nd choice was l/b white , & because i had never seen a L/B in the flesh ,i bottled it & went to laser blue / white. Iam so decisive me lol.

KenL Apr 19, 2007 12:50 AM

After CR/BL, I would have gone for all Astro Black.

dneal Apr 19, 2007 06:27 AM

British Racing Green, Redwood Red Lounge Leather, and English Oak trim.

She who must be obeyed wanted red.

z3bum Apr 19, 2007 06:30 AM

My color choices were sparkling silver, dark silver, chili red, and laser blue, all with either cloth seats, or the blue or red cloth/leather. I chose the sparkling silver MINI partly because it was $2000 less than the others, the seats were very comfy, and the color really grew on me.

I was originally going to go with BRG/White. The green was the same as my previous car, so I eventually decided on a change and went with Lightning Blue/White. If I had known the wood steering wheel was going to be such a problem, I would have gone with Piano Black and Chrome line interior instead of Wood trim. If I get the wood wheel retrofitted, I will be very happy, however. I also think if I had gone with Piano Black, I would have ordered the anthracite headliner.

I have my first choice, DS/B, which is the color I've used on the configurator for years. I was very tempted by laser blue/white and sparkling silver/black. We would have purchased nightfire red/white if it was available for the S. My 3 year old knows how to use the configurator now and seems to prefer mellow yellow with white and she always puts on bonnet stripes.

I ordered my MCS in Laser Blue/W. This was, and continues to be an issue for me because I can still change the order. While I think LB/W is a real sweet color combo, there's a part of me that thinks I should get a calmer color combo (like DS/W(or B) or PS/B) because I might grow tired of the Laser Blue. Did anybody else order Laser Blue? Do you still love it?

Loony2N Apr 19, 2007 07:59 AM

I wanted my MINI to have a color a little out of the ordinary, but not too out there. So, my choices were narrowed to Laser Blue and Lightning Blue. I decided I liked the Lightning more, but Laser blue was def in contention.

For me, it was between Laser and Lightning blue, both with black roof. I actually initially spec'd the Laser but, after thinkning it over a few days, went back to the dealer and changed my order to LiB/B. So far, no regrets.

DaveCo Apr 19, 2007 09:40 AM

i think i spec'd out PW/B, LaB/B, CR/W and then i saw the LiB/B and decided that was it!

r56mini Apr 19, 2007 09:45 AM

I don't have the production number yet and I keep changing my mind every day about which color I want. As of this morning, I am thinking CR/B. My other favorites are... MY/B, PW/B, PS/Ps or B. But my MA's order sheet says AB/AB

Better study up in the detailing forum. They look awesome for the 30 seconds they're clean, but I'll never own another black car.

R56MCS Apr 19, 2007 11:14 AM

Mellow yellow, black roof and mirrors, yellow interior colour line and yellow sports seats (we get them as options in the UK).

Yea, Red and Yellow definitely have, what I call, "toy factor". Those colors make the MINI look like a toy on the road. When a small scale model car looks real thanks to a good metallic paint job (for example, dark silver) it is very cool. On the contrary I am attracted to the real cars that look like a toy because of the exterior design + toy like color scheme (for example, orange Lambo, yellow Viper, or yellow MINI). The toy factor is something I cannot ignore.. It will probably be a CR/B or MY/B in the end... I tried numerous times to stay away from those combinations for the fear of being a cop bait but I can't help it. But my sig says PW/B for now.

1chaos52 Apr 19, 2007 11:39 AM

I have not yet ordered. My first choice was BRG/B, but really like the look of CR/B and DS/B. Since I am trying to stick to a budget I will probably get the CR/B, but will definitely not be unhappy with my choice. I just want to get my new Mini!!!!!

Skuzzy Apr 19, 2007 11:41 AM

My initial color choices

1) Sparkling Silver/Black
2) Pure Silver/Black
3) Pepper White/Black

Then we went in and test drove them. Then next week went back to think on it some more and get more answers to questions.

And there it was. A box of paint chips. On top was Nightfire Red. I picked it up and asked, "Is this available?" She said, "Not yet, but it is coming."

I opted to wait for it and have since then, become an irritating thorn in the side of NAM and its posters as I impatiently wait for my baby to arrive. :)

lucyl Apr 19, 2007 11:44 AM

I initially ordered lb/w and then changed my order to my second choice ds/b. Decisions Decisions! It's tough!

mcarlo52 Apr 19, 2007 02:37 PM

I've always started with DS but since I ordered a R56 MCS, my second choice would have been a toss-up between Sparkling Silver and Laser Blue. Both with Black Roof, or course.

WinneMini Apr 20, 2007 06:02 AM

For years it was CR/W with the stripes. We'd have the "dress" MINI (pw/pw) and the "play" MINI. When it came time to actually order one, I went SS/W-no stripes. There WERE about 24 hours after ordering I almost went "yellow"--until I discovered it would be the new yellow--which disturbed me at the time but now has really grown on me. (More Pooh Bearish)
The Nightfire is absolutely awesome, but I couldn't get cloth seats or some such nonsense as that. Cloth was a MUST HAVE for me in FL.
