How do you have fun with your MINI?

I'm now the proud owner of a MC which I've had for over a week and I'm really getting to love the car, great value and love all the details. While I only have an MC (can't imagine what the S is like), I love the pickup and performance with the 6 speed stick. Our area has lots of back roads and hills and I find myself going out of my way to drive them. Constantly find myself going way over the limit when I'm not paying attention, and now I'm real nervous about speeding tickets. I'd like to know what other MINI owners do to have fun with their cars. Any suggestions?

Mark

I have F.U.N. with my MCSC "LilTiger" by:

1) Belonging to 2 car clubs
2) Meeting others who share my love of the cars
3) Sharing this passion with my spouse (he has a MCS too)
4) Spending free time washing, waxing, and modding
5) Taking road trips (with clubs and without) exploring new places, meeting new people, pushing ourselves to our limits with our cars - (while being safe)6) Expanding my knowledge of the MCS by reading Forums and contributing to their content
7) You-ifying my MINI - giving her personality, and finding out about my own in the process
8) Discovering new "firsts" - track days, AutoX, spirited driving
9) Motoring to work and feeling great
10) Taking MINI-related vacations (AMVIV)
11) Bringing a smile to another MINI motorer's face with an enthusiastic wave, flash of the lights, and a thumbs up

Yeah.....that's a good start to all the fun LilTiger brings into my world.

The other night, at 2:00 in the morning, I couldn't sleep. So, I went down to the garage, cleaned the wheels, did the windows and then went back to bed.

It was fun ...but I think I'm nuts.

I drive! There aren't too many good roads in this part of Texas (Houston area), but I've got a favorite drive and run it often. Today, in fact!

I autocross at the Houston Police Academy with the BMW club. There's one most months.

I also belong to two MINI clubs, and go on fun drives with them. I've put on a couple of fun runs for one of the clubs. Lots of fun exploring for new MINI roads and putting together a route for all to enjoy.

As an ex-SUV owner, the first moment of fun came when I filled up with premium petrol and it cost less than when I did the 87 grade of petrol on my old car.

Next up: hand washing and waxing my new baby

Mine has not arrived yet, so I am designing stuff to make for her when she arrives. Depending on the costs, I will probably be able to some limited runs and will post about those as I do them. Sometimes it is more cost efficient to make 6 than 4 depending on the bar stock wastes.

Also doing a little bit of animation work using Mini's as my inspiration, and doing some static artwork for the Nightfire Red owners.

Ordered Focal speakers to replace the stock ones. Getting a rear anti-sway bar for her, and the front strut brace.

I already have my detailing tools in place. Although I did recently add a portable steam cleaner to my array of tools.

And I endlessly whine to the NAM community about not having my Mini.

He'll probably disappear from the list when it does arrive--like some others I could mention...

Park in front of Starbucks. Go inside and sit with a cup of coffee. Watch people look at the car as they stroll by

Oh no. You won't get rid of me that easily. I'll be documenting a few how-to's and relaying the progress I make on making my Mini her own unique self.

Ever seen a Mini with a 'head-freeze' headache? It ain't pretty. We are talking valves through the bonnet. Feed the ice cream slowly.
