Hello fellow R56 drivers
I just picked my fiance's MINI yesterday after 8weeks of waiting but it started making annoying rattling sounds when I accerate and it bumps
anyone has those kinda problems?
should I take it to the dealership?
we took everything out from the car but it still makes noise lol...
any help would be appreciate
Oh and I have wheels sitting on my garage for mini it's 17*7.5 and +40 offset I think it's fit fine but is it gonna void warranty or? maintinance programs? I have plan to go Hassel MINI or Habberstad MINI in Longisland, NY for service and maintainance

Thanks guys

a rattle could be a lot of things, most minor. Of course you should take it to the dealer. You just plunked down a lot of money for the car, you should be able to enjoy it.

My R56 is very loud going over bumps, and not as soft as my R53 was. I know a lot of people say the R56 has a smoother ride, but I haven't noticed it, especially, as I said, over bumps. Loud! And I also have a rattle somewhere in the rear on the passenger side. Intermittent, of course. I'm still trying to get used to this car.

Nope, not on my R53 either. But I should qualify by saying my R53 was smoother over bumps and potholes. As far as the automatic transmission, I had CVT on my R53 which I didn't care for because it was very jerky at slow speeds, so that I do prefer on my R56. But my R53 seemed to have taken bumps a lot better. I don't remember the loud "bang!" sound on that car like I hear on this car when I go over bumps or drive over a small pothole. I was concerned so we even checked the tire pressure and found that all 4 tires were 5psi over MINI's recommendation, so we lowered the pressure 4 psi's hoping it would make the car smoother over bumps. But it really didn't. This just seems to be a noisy car for me. Between the rattle in the rear, the loud noises going over bumps and the brake pedal clicking and clunking, I'm not thrilled. Edited to add: I had the standard performance 15's on my R53 and all season 15's on this car.

The 17" low profile Goodyear Eagle runflat tires on my car make for a ride that is somewhat hard but it leaves a feeling of more intimate inclusion in the car's involvement with the road. I like it. That said, the only loud noise I've experienced going over bumps turned out to be the front right side seatbelt buckle banging against the hard plastic of the pillar. Now I just fasten the seatbelt.

I was thinking the rattle I'm hearing may be the seatbelt. But the loud sound over bumps is something else...I guess it's the way the car rides. Some people may like it....

My R56S has Dunlop runflats it's smooth and quiet until I hit a bot dot then it's like I hit a brick wall.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about; my R56 is plush and quiet and rattle free, especially compared to my R53.

I had a rattle and bump noise once. Finally found it and got rid it. Of course, the divorce was a bit expensive, but the car was much better to ride in afterwards.

When I test drove both the 06 and 07 Coopers, I took them down this street which was in terrible shape. The 07 felt more secure and planted than the 06. It also road better and was much quieter. Neither had a sport suspension.

I now understand the tires on the 06 model probably contributed to its rough and noisy ride.

My R56 drives smooth on good roads but it is HORRIBLE while crossing pot holes - even little ones - it gets toooo bumpy and bounces around a little :(

Part of that might be the tires. What does yours have, Dunlap runflats? What size wheels?

Rumor is that the Goodyear are better. I plan to switch to non-runflats after the factory set are worn out -- or possibly before.

We have an 07 Cooper w/ sports suspension. The car was fine, until my wife and I drove from Arizona to Virginia (roads suck on the east coast!). Now the car has a noise that sounds like the upper rear strut mounts are loose. We only hear the noise when driving over rough roads. The car now has 55K miles on it so the problem is now mine to fix. A quick inspection with the car on a lift revealed nothing. Anyone know where I can get a service manual for this car?

Update on suspension noise. Took the car to the dealer, and there is a technical service bulletin (TSB) on the rear sway bar bushings. They changed them, and the noise problem disappeared. Thanks Passport MINI!

I'm in MD and we have to head down to DC a few times a week... we should get tempur pedic seats or something to combat the bumpy ride! ^+1 on the East Coast crappy roads!! :P Still have the stock 15 RunFlats though, so that certainly doesn't help. I don't mind it really, a bumpy ride is a small price to pay for a such a fun ride. That's not to say Non-RunFlats aren't on the top of my list of things to purchase...
