How long to order a MINI?

How long are dealers saying it takes from placing an order for a custom specified car to getting delivery? My dealer told me to allow 3 months - is this typical?

I was told 8-10 weeks. From some of the threads on here this varies widely due to your dealer's allocation. Check the search out-there's several threads on this subject, including this one:

Shouldn't be 3 months for Florida. There is lots of chatter about length of time from order to delivery all over this board. Biggest factor is your dealer's allotment. My MA tried to tell me months and months, too, since I wanted a manual in a MC. But I knew production for manuals started March 1 and ordered March 3. MINI dealers are still car dealers and they want you to purchase the cars they have on the lot so they may be a bit "off" in their estimate of delivery for a custom order.
I'd say 6-8 weeks isn't unreasonable, but again, it depends on the dealer allotment. Where in Florida are you?

Thanks. I want to get my car in September or October and was wondering if the dealer was making the wai longer so I would put in my order.

My friend ordered an MCS yesterday from East Bay MINI in Pleasanton, Ca, and was told to expect it by August. It wasn't very option heavy so I'm curious as to why the dealer said it would take so long. They had 8 MCS allocation slots available.

I decided that I want the audio package. Under advice from the dealer, I held off placing my order until Mini officially announced availability of that package. On Friday I got a call from my MA indicating that June is the magic month and that I could comfortably place the order, so I did . This suggests to me that they won't begin building my car until at least June 1. So in theory, the little guy or gal (won't know until birth) should be in my driveway by mid July. If all goes according to plan, that would seem to indicate a 10 to 12 week timeframe.

I'm hoping/expecting delivery faster than 6 weeks from time of deposit. I ordered it on a tuesday night and they modified a car they had already placed on order so that it would get built ASAP. The MA said I could recieve it within 4 weeks of putting down a deposit, but I'd be happy with 6.

Ordered from Braman of West Palm on 3/24, was told it would take from 8 to 12 weeks. Car completed production on 4/4 and is now onboard Freedom on its way to Charleston. Expecting delivery either the last week of April or first week of May.

Good luck!!!

Where in Florida are you?

Yea, being on the East Coast definitely helps your cause, especially since travel time is so much shorter (my car will have to cross through the Panama Canal, adding weeks to delivery time). Ask the dealer if they have open allocation slots and if not, try another place. I had two different dealers give me ETAs that were weeks apart.
