R56 Question about the Central Locking System
Question about the Central Locking System
Hi Everyone,
While waiting for my 2007 MC, I'm reading the manual, but I'm confused about the central locking system. Can you help?
Here's what the manual says, page 19:
"The central locking system is ready for operation whenever the driver's door is closed. The system simultaneously engages and releases the locks on the following:
- Doors
- Tailgate
- Fuel filler door"
Then on page 22 it says:
"Opening and Closing: From Inside
The switch locks or unlocks the doors and tailgate when the doors are closed, but the anti-theft system is not activated. The fuel filler door remains unlocked."
Don't these two statements contradict each other? If I'm locking the door from the inside switch, does that mean the fuel filter cap stays unlocked as in the second statement, or it locks, as in the first statement?:impatient

The second is when you are in the car. Lock the doors and tailgate but not the filler. I guess that so an attendent may fill your gas for you and you remain in safety. (In Oregon maybe, NJ ?

Ah, okay, then. So when I stop for gas, I don't have to unlock the doors for the attendant to be able to open the gas cap because it will already be unlocked, correct? Makes sense, thank you. And in the states where people pump their own gas....which is most of them....it really won't make a difference since they have to unlock the cars to get out.
Put it in cruise control, roll down the window, crawl out (keeping one foot on the steering wheel), and see if the gas cap is unlocked.
