Wow, you guys really call a lot! I wonder what kind of conversations they have between themselves on their end, maybe odds on who the next caller would be - LOL!

I have kept myself from calling too often to speak with a person - only about 4 times total. But at one point I asked if they minded if I call every day and if they have a record in their computer of how often I call. They said that they're happy to talk and they don't know how many calls that I've made.

These are the same people who answer calls for roadside assistance and complaints so I get the feeling that vehicle production status call are the best for them. Those callers are always happy and excited to get information.

Talk to them!

The automated system just said mine is in the body shop (as it was last week) with a completion date of March 28. A live person said as of today it is in QA. Then it goes for transport to the port.

Just made my second call to ASK MINI today. Spoke with Doug. More good news for my car. They finished assembly quality check today. It should be out of the plant tomorrow or the day after.

Doug said that with the current ship cycle it has been takeing 4-10 days to get on a ship depending on where they are in the cycle.
After it crosses the pond, he said a week to a week and half at the port of entry for emission checks, wait for truck, and other things. Then it will ship to the dealer.

He also said once the car is released to shipping, the dealer will know more than ASK MINI and may be able to say what ship it's on.

Go Week 13!

All this excitement prompted me to speak to a rep. Everything is looking to be on schedule, the car is in the paint shop and should be ready by the 29th. According to his estimates, I should be motoring at the end of April!

jyarrow, when it does get to shipping, you can track by VIN on the Wallenius & Wilhelmsen site (http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto). According to their site, there's 3 ships leaving from Southampton during the first week of April alone! Or maybe lucky 13 will let you catch the Integrity leaving 3/31 arriving in Newark on 4/9

I've already seen that ship, the Integrity, leaving on March 31 to New Jersey on 4/9. I am afraid to say it out loud, but I'm hoping that my car gets on it.

How do you find out about the ship? Know of one leaving for California about that time?

I check the WW site. Using the route schedule. Hopefully this link will work:
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...countryList.do. My understanding is that the cars leave from Southampton and I guess yours would go to Port HUENEME. It looks like the MAERSK WAVE leaves on April 2 headed for California.

But then there are other shipping companies they use that I don't know anything about.

Yea, looks like it would be either the MAERSK WAVE on April 2nd, or ISOLDE on the 9th. Arrival dates would be on the 23rd or 30th.

That's a long voyage. This is the first time I've thought living in Virginia had an advantage over your California paradise.

Yea, but you don't get to watch the ship on the Panama Canal web cam.

My kids are stoked about the ships and we're using this as a learning opportunity for them. Maybe we'll follow yours throught the canal since ours just gets to go next to the statue of liberty. (They've taken the Staten Island Ferry so this is resonating.)

Just listened to the automated ASK MINI voice and he said, "your vehicle production is complete and is waiting to be released to the carrier." They've been telling me for over a week that it would be done today and it is.

Yeah! I just called ASK-MINI, trying not to expect anything more than a production date, and I found out it started down that happy little production line today! I ordered it last Tuesday, so a week from order to production, whew! I thought it wouldn't be here until Summer.

And in other fun news, my parents adopted a pet over the weekend, called me and asked "guess what we named it?!" In a fit of desperate sarcasm, I replied, "I don't know, mini cooper?" And they had... she's "Coop S." And they don't even have a motoring version.

I'm in the week 13 club. I just called ask-mini and my car is complete and waiting for transport to East Coast USA!!!

Now, the bad news is I'm flying out to China for work and will not be back until sometime in May, so that means I do not even get to pick-up my own car

Welcome to Week 13. I'm waiting for transport as well. Mine's heading to Washington, DC so they should be traveling together.

I'd be happy to pick up your car and take care of it until your back.

Looks like I belong here as well. I was original told that I was in week 14, April 1 build, but I called ASK-MINI yesterday, and production started on 3/24. No complaints here.

Yesterday an ASK-MINI operator said my car was in QA. Today I'm told it is in "the final stages of production" which includes QA. I wonder if they found problems?

No, I believe that they are going the extra mile to ensure that our cars bound for US are 100% AOK, I got the same reply.

My car has been released to the carrier. I just talked to Doug at ASK MINI and was busted for calling too much. I talked to him yesterday. He didn't care that was I calling back again, but I try not to be too obsessed about this (at least in public).

Now I'll obsess for information on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site.
