Looking forward to seeing what a Retro Gas Cap looks like.

On a related note...can the standard gas filler cap be replaced with the Chrome one at a later date, or is it only factory installed? and what difficulty is involved? Thanks.
Baron: The Retro Gas Cap can be put on at a later date. The whole cap and inner assembly is one big unit and it's simply pull out and push on...but the new ring for the cap has to be painted...and with NFR being such a new color, it took a while for the paint to come. But it looks great...take a look at my gallery and it'll be there...it's definitely a little highlight for me!

Yea, sounds like the proverbial dung has been hitting the fan. Not good. Hope it finally passes soon and there's no more awful stories.

It was a short lived time in NFR, but I am now moving to BRG. Sorry guys, but that was my first option and well, it has the Sport package which I feel is better than the Premium package. Oh and the car is stalled in Oxnard and the Green is being delivered tonight so I will be picking up on Friday.

Ah, I guess we truly scared away valthun!
I kid, that's terrific that you're able to get what you want and not have to wait. Enjoy! And we'll still expect pics!

Dang, I guess we are a scary lot. I keep tellin dennis to put on some clothes and quit running about the forums all naked and stuff.

Heya valthun. It's all good. Get the Mini you want. That is the most important part.

We suffered through another flooding lsat night. This time I managed to get Romi home before it hit. And on the way home, her 'check engine light' went out. I had to stop and get some cat food. Came back out and she started up like normal.

Checked this morning, and she is till clear. WOOT! I guess whatever got wet, dried up and fixed the problem. I am going to cancel her appointment at the dealer next week.

It's under warranty. It's free. Right? Keep the appointment. Just in case.

No point in taking her in for something that corected itself. She will get into the service department for her regular checks. I am really not concerned about it. The circumstances surrounding this were highly unusual.

The warning indicator on the tach is cleared also. If the owners manual is correct, this means there is no stored error codes. According to the owners manual, this means the condition was a temporary one.

I fully expected this to be the case, Skuzzy. Maybe, just to make sure, you should run through another small lake and see if it does it again...

Hehe. I might have no choice this afternoon according to the weather reports.

And I really do not want the service folks to know me as someone who cries wolf.

Actually, I find it highly amusing when my MINI communicates with me and gives me some feedback....like when fuel gets low or when it gets to 37 degrees. Nice to know these systems work. The CEL is just a polite way of informing the owner that it's a MINI, not a submarine!!

Just tell them that. You are a new Mini owner and you got an indicator light that came and went away. You want to be sure you understand how they work (and reset themselves) on a Mini and that there isn't a problem that still exists even though the light reset itself.

I wonder if anyone is making aftermarket pontoons for the R56 yet. Ah, another drawback of the new model year!

The drawback being that there are no pontoons yet, or that the new model year takes water damage (and previous models don't?)?

Skuzz...maybe it was the catfood? Everyone with the CEL should go out and buy cat food!

I was thinking pontoons and paddle wheels would be pretty beneficial about now.

Idiot lights dunt(tm) other me. I can usually tell when something is wrong long before an idiot goes off. I think how Romi talks to me is one of the quirks to owning a Mini and I think it is pretty cool.

Once I had the front air bags go off in my '03 MINI (long story...lots of not-at-fault crunching and smashing). I remember sitting there thinking...."man, that is so freakin' cool!!!" These MINIs, they actually work!!!!

Hi, Guys (mostly!!),
I think I'm the only one so far with white roof & bonnet stripes.....I also went with checkered mirrors and love the whole combo. I didn't think I would like white wheels, but my son has them on his 2006 cabrio (chili red with dark green top) and they look great. (I didn't notice it on his until after I'd already ordered.)

...and I haven't abandoned the group...how can you abandon an insane group like this? I'm just not adept at scintillating conversation like you guys!

Actually, the large Weber grill cover works perfectly for this.

Adept? Scintillating?? Hmmm,..words I would use to describe sane and incredibly intelligent people. Wait...

ROFLMBO!!!!

Ok,.ok,..ok. Better.

Dunt(tm) be such a stranger. It's ok to be strange, and even stranger, but not a stranger.

Thanks for the feedback on the white options. I actually had printed a picture of Chessie to show my wife how great the white looked on NFR. She didn't like the checkered mirrors though, go figure.

Normally I'd be somewhat offended at being called insane...but in this case, the Weber Grill Cover seems to fit perfectly! At least I'm not running around naked anymore!

Just stick that between the SIGPIC and /SIGPIC tags in your signature. <snip>
Is there a central location for all the different badge images ('image tags'), like the one linked above and also the not quite a mini owner badge, etc.?
Thanks.

Baron Ken, I made the NFR tag. I never got around to making a "Not Quite Owner" tag, but give me a few hours tonight and I will see what I can do for ya.
