R56 Where is and Who is my baby?
Where is and Who is my baby?
New poster, experienced lurker. I need some encouragement/assistance with the tracking process. I want my baby!
The facts:
March 3rd went to Braman Palm Beach and ordered our second MINI Cooper (previous 05 PW/PW-HIS). New one (HERS) is SS/W, Manual, Prem & Sport, Chrome mirrors---nothing as fancy as most of yours, but great for my everyday driving needs. Began obsessively reading every post on these boards (and MINI2) but I held off and did not contact MA for production number until Thursday (3/8). He gave me the number. I checked Owner’s Lounge. Car that “matches” my production number does not match my car specs—at all. It also has a VIN. I figured it was an “allotment car” and the specs would/will change. Called ASK MINI yesterday and the recording tells me the car went into production 2/15. But manual transmissions in Cooper are not available until March? Re-verified the production number with MA yesterday.
The Questions:
Is my assumption that this is an “allotment” car and the specs will catch up correct? (Info from boards and MC2’s latest issue are basis of this assumption.)
If it is my car and it went into production 2/15—what week am I?
Thank you for the tons of great info on these boards. We missed the tracking process with the first MINI, but I want to fully experience it this time. Sorta like childbirth with drugs and without drugs I guess!

From what I understand, they are all allotment cars. I've also read here that many will have the wrong specs on the tracking page because it's a few days behind real time. My MCS is a week 11 car, ordered on 2/28/07 and, unless I messed up on the dates, week 11 started in the middle of this past week. Hope this helps!

This should answer most of your questions. MINI Site will be behind by about a week.

When mine was in the, "on order" status the car described did not match the car I ordered. Expressed concern to the MA. He assured me it usually shows up wrong at first on ASK MINI. Sure enough, a few days later it posted as exactly the car I ordered. Keep the faith.
I too ordered from the same dealership in WPB Fla. Took a week for the correct color (MY/W) to appear in owners lounge with production #, no VIN# yet though, Probably because I specced the NAV system.. Keep checking with your MA. Let us know.
WinneMini use the WW site to see if you are scheduled to at the Port of Southhampton. Also for djam43-Understand that the HTML info in the owners lounge is at least a week behind. Mine is still showing "awaiting transport" when in actuality it was put on the Trianon on the 7th and is a1/3 of the way to the U. S.

It sounds like you need to speak to your MA and/or Ask-Mini to find out exactly what car is being built. Your MA needs to send you a copy of your order and your spec sheet. Otherwise, I'd be concerned that what I ordered is not what is being built. The fact that your car began production two weeks prior to your ordering it is worrisome. Perhaps your MA gave you an incorrect production #?
Bottom line: you need clarification on this from someone capable of giving it to you. Call your MA.

I just talked with ASK MINI. When I gave them the production number, they listed my exact specs and confirmed she went into production today. (Code 150). I'm feeling better--especially since I have given my good 2002 SUV to the kid and I'm now driving his old '99 Jetta that is, well... JUNK!
I'm Week 11!
Thanks all!
