Cooper hood on the Cooper S

So the new cars have massive hoods we all know that. Im thinking that if the S scoop isnt functional than I might as well replace it with the nicer cooper hood. Does anyone know if their is anything that looks like it would be a problem in terms of clearance?

This photo is the real inspiration for my idea,

The 56 doesnt look all that bad once you take it out of orbit and lower it back down to earth

I'm sure it's possible; the only thing that's going to stop you is yourself! Go buy a Cooper R56 hood and bolt it up; it might be that easy...and you might have to tweak a bit. I wouldn't expect a How-To to be published for it, but you never know.

Anything is possible... but if the non-functional hood scoop really bothers you that much would you rather A) Spend thousands of dollers purchasing and fitting a Cooper hood, or B) wait 4-6 months for the first Ram Air Filter to come out and make it functional for a fraction of the cost?

Its not only that the scoop doesnt work its that I think the cooper hood is nicer, its sleeker and sexier.

My guess in no..

The info on the Mini site states that the MC and the MCS have a different measurement from front bumper to the center of the front axle.
The hood would have to be longer to keep the same profile.
This is just a guess. Check with the parts guys, the parts catalog should give measurements for each hood.

I think that you would back off the thought of that changeover if you priced in $$$ the replacment hood from BMW + paint.!!!

i actually think this is a nice idea, as i really don't like the fake and blocked off scoop, regardless of what aftermarket kits will come out. why not look for swaps? maybe someone w/ an MC of the same color would swap it w/ you. but i'd keep the MCS grille

while deep in my heart i am and will always be an r53 guy, the r56's are growing on me

I prefer the hood of the MCS. It just looks better to me. The same thing goes for the grill. If the MC had the same grill as the MCS I'd get the MC and live with the hood.

I very much agree. The MCS hood scope has always struck me as kind of goofy looking on a car as small as a Mini.
