Run flat tires = no jack with the car?!?

After inspecting the car the other day, I realized the jack was missing... Talked to dealer yesterday and he told me since our MCS runs flat tires = no jack with the car

Is he just bullsh*tting me??

Some folks have mentioned getting jacks from their dealers simply by asking for one. Otherwise, I guess we'll have to find aftermarket jacks if we want to carry one.

I used to have run flats and had one of them deflate and I couldn't even tell which one it was by simply looking at it. They are really strong and realiable. nevertheless I don't have run flats anymore, and no spare tire either. Little scary but so far so good.

My 06 MCS has run flats and came with a jack. Maybe my dealer put it in the boot?

My R56 MCS did not ship with a jack, however the dealer said it was supposed to and the part is on order from MINIUSA.

I was looking at an '07 R56 as well as the R53 last Thurs....
The R56 had no jack.
The R53 had a jack.

Just another data point.

Probably part of the R56 cost cutting scheme...no more floor jacks included!

My '05 R53 came with a nice tool kit tucked inside the rear battery compartment and the floor jack inside a protective cover sleeve.

I love how MINI places no thought into the idea that tires can and will be replaced. LOL

Personally I will never buy a set of RFT's that are not OEM on a vehicle. Once my RF's are dead.....my MINI will be enjoying a set of performance tires (non-RF) and some 15" holies and blizzak's for the winter.....

GIVE ME A JACK!!! (I am glad dealers are supplying.)

Here's the opening comment from an MSN Autos article:

"In a few years, accidents due to tire blowouts should become a thing of the past, along with spare wheels and cumbersome jacks."

Here's the article in full:

The early 2002 MCSs did not come with jacks. In early 2003 jacks started to be supplied and were made available to the early car owners upon request. I can see this happening again.

We got a jack with ours!

We got ours from Downtown Mini in Orlando, and our salesman just took out a unit with a jack form another new car and substituted it for me when I asked. Now that's what I call personal service . In most cases I am sure that if you ask you will get one.

My 2006 MCS has a jack in the boot in it's own little mini bag and has straps to even hold it in place. Came with the car....luckily haven't had to use it. (knock on wood)

I asked for a jack on delivery and my MA swiped one out of another car and stuck it in the back. No problem. Stupid that you have to ask, but he did it without hesitating. It is one of those things I just want in my car. There is a space for it in the kit, so why not put it in. I might rotate the tires myself.

fact is while there is no jack the tool set is nicer..

The cooper has the nicest toolset though.

I got one just by asking. BTW, make sure you have a lug wrench, too--that was also missing in action until I asked.

When these runflats bite the dust I will buy a donut to go with my non-runflat replacements. And yes, I have had a couple of blowouts over the years, on good brand tires. Shxx happens...

Could we deduce from that dealerships are removing them and placing them in their private stash "unless the customer isn't a schmuck and asks for the whole took kit"?

I asked my MA @ Classic MINI about this; they said all R56's come with a complete took kit.

I think the bottom line here is: don't let the dealership hose you over with some lame excuse.
