R56 MCS Tool Kit missing parts

Took delivery on my R56 MCs on 2/21/07 - original order 11/27/06, manufactured first week of Jan. '07.

DS/6-speed manual, Black/Grey Leatherette, LSD, Sport Suspension, Premium, Sports and Cold weather Pkgs., Hi-Fi, Chrome In-Out, Auto Mirror, Garage door Opener, 17" Crown Spoke Run Flats.

The under boot tool kit only has 3 tools in the styrofoam package - NO JACK or related tools. My MA stated that all of their R56 vehicles with run-flats have been delivered without a jack. The Owner's Manual shows a tool kit for included with a MINI spare tire package, which includes a jack, and an optional Tire Mobility Kit for standard tires ($112.00 US). Is anyone else missing the jack and associated equipment when your vehicle has run-flats?

A jack is useful, regardless of the types of tires.

There should be a jack, lugwrench, open ended wrench, allen wrench, screwdriver and tow hook.

At least the S I looked in had those items.

You guys should call 1 866 ASK MINI or talk to your Sales person. It would be nice to know what is supposed to come with the cars.

My MA said a jack wasn't included, but it's clearly shown in the book.

My MA stated that as of 2/20/07, all of their delivered R56 MCS' delivered did not include jacks and associated tools in the kit. This seems inappropriate - for any type of vehicle.

All bits are in all Uk models, may be because a jack is a legal requirement here.

I remember the early '02 Cooper S's didn't come with a jack because MINI said you didn't need one with Run-Flat tires. Come '03 model year, all MCS's came with a jack. Will the R56 follow suit?

I do feel the car should come with a jack, especially if the owners manual shows one equipped! It's almost like a practical joke when you go to use the jack and follow the owners manual guide "...get the jack from the tool kit.....just kidding!"

the owners manual often says that the car comes with alot of things your car doesn't. Sometimes the manuals are made and then translated to differnt languages to help reduce cost... this could be what happend. Also, i believe the manuals are for both cooper and cooper S. This could be why you are seeing an entire tool kit.

In many parts of europe you are required to carry a first aid kit, jack etc... things we don't get here, and that maybe why you are seeing it in the manuals.

May i ask what you need a jack for if you have runflats?

I use the jack to raise the car to get it on stands when I'm doing oil changes, changing from summer to winter tires, brake changes, suspension tweaks, etc. There are still people out there that work on their own cars and need the jack that keys into MINI's special jackpoint.

Good idea. I don't go anywhere without my spare.

Any idea if the R53 spare will work with the R56? Of course, I'd only use the spare in the rear... the brakes are probably a bit smaller back there in the R56 too?

????????????????????

1). To remove the wheel and raise the vehicle, which can be required for reasons other than a flat tire (run flat). Also, it would be appropriate to have the MINI jack to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle jacking point, and
match the storage slot in the under-boot styrofoam package.

Since R56s are the pinnacle of perfection (according to the NUMFUCC guidelines) don't need any tools because they never break.

Jack is also very useful for when you replace the run-flats with regular tires. If it doesn't come with one I'll have to get one. With that, anyone know if the R56 jack the same as an R50/53? Perhaps my salvage yard will have some?

That still doesn't answer the question "Is the R56 MCS supposed to come with a jack?" It just says that set of delivered minis doesn't have those objects.

So if you want to rotate tires yourself, assuming you have an extra tire laying around your garage, but have no jack. Do you just call MINI Roadside Assistance?

honestly to rotate tires and change tires at home you should really invest in a nice floor jack. It is much much safer than using any sort of factory "scissor" jack.

Obviously people are not going to carry around a floor jack in the trunk of there car if they ditch the runflats, then you might want to think about getting a scissor jack. Many jacks from other manufactures would work with the car. I would get your new car... head down to a local junk yard and score a jack out of a dodge or honda for 10 bucks... or if that isn't atractive... swallow your pride and purchase the factory jack from the parts department.
