Sounds like a nice car...though you'll get more out of the car if you go w/ the manual...MUCH more to motoring..

Thought about a color line interior? Red or blue might liven up the inside of the car along w/ the chrome line.

I went w/ rooster red and chrome line w/ the checkered seats...came out VERY nice

I wanted to get a manual with LSD so bad. .. and I've never daily driven an automatic so its already natural to me but, eh, alas I wanted some comfort :P

I just love the chrome w/ black look, although next MCS I get will be a little more unique for sure

Just so you know...the Mini Owners Lounge information is inaccurate more often than not. You will be better off contacting your MA or 1.800.ASK.MINI when you have questions.

Welcome to the Automatic MCS Owner's Club

We are a tiny minority - but we have no regrets about the auto - I LOVE MINE - best balance of convenience plus performance for a daily driver IMHO. For anyone who wants to clutch every day, every drive, go right ahead. I'll let the car shift for me sometimes though, thank you. But the paddles rock once you learn to drive it right - it requires different skills than the manual.

You'll catch much grief for the auto - be prepared for that. Then just nod and acknowledge that whatever purist is giving you grief is far superior and you're lucky to be in their presence. Then the next time you pass them on the highway, wave or toast them with your latte' while upshifting.

Well said!

Yeah, honestly the owner's lounge website looks kinda cheesy! But as long as the info gets through I guess its okay :P

I'm having similar thoughts of getting an automatic. I personally LOVE driving standard, but 2 or 3 times a month I'm stuck in the city and fed up with clutching.

Can I still expect the same performance through the country roads with an automatic?

Of course. I tested mine in another state, my sisters' hubby hooked me up, and we motored all over the country roads. It is much less tiring as well not having to worry about shifting. The gear or paddle shifters to me were just as gratifying.

Believe it or not Jodan, I just emailed my dealership to change the transmission from auto to manual with limited slip.

Two reasons

1.) I'm already used to driving manual with my eyes closed
2.) Limited slip differential is just something I can't give up
( used to drive a Dodge srt-4 with limited slip)

And if it were any other car, I would consider an automatic but because
the MCS is such a driver's car.. its hard to switch to automatic, as comfortable as it might be.

My 2Cents!

Hopefully I didn't come off as a hypocrite

I would be hard pressed to get a MCSa. I did not like it as much as the cvt 06 MC. The only way to go, imo, for the mcs is manual, and for the mc is auto.

When I ordered my R 53 automatic I ordered it so my wife could drive the car.Couple of days later I'm on NAM and see someone else did the same thing for the same reason, the very next post said"you should shoot your wife".I had my wife read the post and as a result I changed the order for the 6 speed. That was 2 years ago,in a few short months I will order a R 56 automatic to replace a 2001 Beetle automatic .Q

Congratulations on your new car! And for changing to a 6-speed. I think you'll be very satisfied, and your option list looks awesome!

It's common for the description/color of your car to be wrong the 1st couple of days. What I think happens is the dealer replaces one of their ordered cars in queue with an actual ordered car from a customer.

Check back in a few, if it doesn't correct itself, call your contact to have it fixed.

How exciting for you!...the waiting game begins! :impatient

In Canada the premium package is only $1,600 and I'd say it's a no-brainer. Increases the resale value everyone says. Besides, women love heated seats.

So the automatic isn't available with a LSD? If so that alone would make me say forget an automatic.

I'm a bit concerned too that in 4-5 years when I sell my MCS, everyone will have transmissions like VW's DSG, etc. and nobody will buy manuals anymore! If only the 07 MCs brought in BMW's SMG.

Even the new eclipse is coming out with a transmission similar to the DSG. Should be interesting to watch.

My 2 cents (canadian or US)
If money is a deciding factor, as it was for me, when I ordered I opted to pick a-la-carte. It seemed all packages except the cold pkg had stuff I didn't want and as I the way I looked at it I created my own packages that way.

Congrats to the new orderers!

Money was an issue... but at that point I was looking at adding the garage door opener plus blue tooth, so adding the package just seemed logical because you got $900 worth of "stuff" for $400... so it seemed it was worth the upgrade. Appreciate it!

Thanks for all the responses guys!

Well, seems like I'm going with automatic :

"We tried to make the change but it wouldn't take. It could be that it's too
late to make the change. We'll try again tomorrow because it could just be
the site."

Oh well

What was the total PRICE on this car? Looks $$$ to me. (asked by surfblue, who is waiting for his $25k MCS which is fairly stripped to just performance stuff, an big stereo and some minor interior stuff)

Congrats! It money is an issue, skip the NAV you can always get a garmin or TomTom. Also consider the stripes. I did not get any stripes and I wish I did. You can put them on after market of course. Also I am glad I did not get the leather either. Leather sucks for track days.

Way to go on the manual with lsd. No other choice unless its a real SMG. If auto was an issue, got drive a VW GTI. Much better auto trans than our mini but not as fun to drive.

Personally also consider wheels and tyres. Many of us have gone to aftermarket wheels and got rid of the run flats. If you consider the same, don't wast any $$$ on wheels upgrades.

My $.02

Whoa, if you just ordered a couple days ago you should be able to change. I would call rather than email.
