I love that clean look. Hrm...instead of blacking mine out maybe I should have done the Cooper swap too. Happy 4th!
Unfortunately you can't just swap the outside door, the whole job is kind of a pain in the ***. To get the new cap seated correctly you have to get at the fuel filler neck from the rear wheel well.
But, it ended up being totally worth it. I had my S cap painted body color but I always hated the shape of it. You have to buy parts 10 & 11. Luckily I found one on eBay for about 1/2 price and just had it painted.

Installed all my BlackJack stuff (mirror caps, side scuttles, valve caps, go badges and rear view mirror). Just waiting on my chrome hatch handle that I won off of ebay for $0.99 and I am set
[ok, ok, can't resist. cross posting it here too...]
Got a new Bike; a Raleigh Alley Way. Was out taking night shots of it when I realized the Mini was in a great location for a few more shots.

All photos in various sizes [in case you'd like to see it 'big'] are published here: JCW & Alley Way @ Night

These were all 30 second exposure shots. I was using my low wattage bike light to 'paint' the car, bike, and trees; not nearly the same pay-off as a 5 or more LED light (as seen here), but it still offers some light-fill of the shadows. The streak from right to left at a slight angle from horizontal is the blinking helmet light of a bike rider who rolled thru the scene even tho I was yelling and waving to him asking him to roll behind me and my camera sitting in the middle of the road. At that point I got frustrated and yelled "fine, don't go around me" while waving my arms in frustration of having my shot ruined by him rolling thru ... At the same time, yet more Taxis were approaching, and you see the lens flare produced from the headlights in the lower right edge of the frame. And what you see is my flailing of my arms in frustration with my bike light in hand. Hahaha... All that's before I realized the shot was actually ruined by me not aligning the frame properly and cutting off the front wheel of the bike. But, I thought those streaks were actually a pretty interesting effect. So I gave the shot an extremely high key finishing in my post processing resulting in the over-the-top contrasty image you quoted.
P.s. Sorry, some people may have simply replied "my 1 or 2 watt LED bike light". I'm just not that kinda guy.

And I love the way the polished centers on the wheels really tie together the bits of chrome on the exterior trim. Looks Damn Good
