Finally lowered my MINI!

Finally got around to doing quite a bit to my MINI this weekend. Installed H&R Springs, Alta 19mm Rear Sway Bar, custom fabricated Magnaflow exhaust and deleted 2nd cat & resonator. I'm on day 1 of driving it with the new mods. Loving it so far. And I mean LOVING IT!!! It think I've been bit by the modding bug. Already planning for the next round of upgrades. Thanks to everyone here for all your input and feedback on the threads. Best resource ever in helping decide what products and which mods to purchase. Thanks NAM members.

Before the mods (only new wheels at this point).

Spring installation begins!

The final product.

It's amazing how much better our cars look once that silly wheel gap is gone. Very nicely done!

(Oh, and great choice of color)

MINI is mostly clean in this shot, needs a good day of TLC and some shots taken somewhere other than my driveway. But here it is

You can have this look for about $15-$20 and some work, As long as you prep and spray right you wondt be able to tell the difference between a good paint job and factory. Then again if they are worth the $800+ then do it oem

Another quick pic of the new setup with wheels, springs and exhaust

Here's a shot of the exhaust tips on my new magnaflow setup. I'm going to have an aftermarket resonator added back in to the system. The droning is REALLY loud, but only between 3K-4K rpm. I do a lot of highway driving, so it's starting to get a little annoying. The exterior sound of the exhuast is AWESOME!!!! It is definately not "rice burner". Magnaflow makes a really good muffler system. It's really deep and throaty (let the jokes begin).

H&R springs installation

Here's another couple of pics of my new setup. The spring installation took about 3 hours. It was relatively easy. I recommend downloading that instructions that Alta posted on this site (I forgot where it is but you can just do a search on this site for spring installation). Alta's instructions helped a lot, especially concerning installation of the rear springs and keeping the strut components lined up before and after spring installation. The Alta 19mm rear sway bar was also pretty easy to install. It took about an hour to install. If you plan on getting a new rear sway bar, install it at the same time that you are going to do your springs!!!!!!!! In order to install the sway bar, you have to remove the rear struts anyways, so it makes sense. Good luck with you installation sean5294. If you need any help or have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I would be more than happy to help you out however I can. I highly recommend installing springs yourself and NOT pay a shop to do it. It will end up being the easiest "chunk of change" you ever saved.

Springs Install

Nope. I didn't cut the bump stops. I merely swapped out the springs and that was it. Nothing needed to be modified for the springs swap. In fact, after taking everything apart, I actually couldn't understand why anyone would need to cut the bump stops or even want to.
