cubbie box above glove box

I asked my MA about the issue regarding the "potential" noise that this door on the cubbie is making. He said that those doors are being sealed at the VDC but there is a retro-fit in the future so that cubbie could be functional later on. Also one of the item that is supposed to fit in that cubbie is the 6 disc changer by Alpine. According to my MA it will cost close to $1000 to have it installed.

$1,000 for a cd-changer? That's highway robbery.

Get the Ipod adapter, cheaper, even with Ipod purchase! Also capacity is so much higher than a changer, cd changers are dinosaures anyway, IMO

The cubbie AND the changer (I hope)?

I was told the cubbie is supposed to be a part of the "storage pack" availible later this tear. Also includes a little netting pocket in the passenger footwell and some other stuff. Didn't get a price. Sorry.

I'll be annoyed if the dash cubby is deleted....almost as annoyed as not getting the MFSW I ordered the 1st time around. Why can't MINI let the customer decide if they want the feature w/rattle or not? I'm sure I'd be able to fix it better than their retrofit anyway. *steamed*

Mine came in with the cubbie deleted ... also my MFSW/Leather wheel got 'deleted' also in favor of the leather steering wheel sans MFSW at $300. Sweet.

I wonder if the cubbie is still there, just the door is somehow fastened shut. My thought it even if my MINI comes with it shut, I'll be able to make it functional, even if it may rattle, I'd rather have functionality than not. [my CD wallet fits perfect in there!]

When somebody figures this out I'd like to know how to do it.

I looked the other day and even went so far as to take 3 screws out of my colorline piece beneath the opening before realizing that it would take more work than that. Nothing obvious yet though I still haven't got on my back and given it a final try.

Looking forward to the hidden space being usable. I played with it at the car show and saw some potential there. In its absence, the door storage holds CDs nicely, just have to drop them in from above the arm rest.
