Any fixes yet?

Has anyone with a noisy moonroof gotten it fixed yet? Just wondering if MINI is aware of this problem and a fix is available at the dealers yet.

I was concerned after testing an 07 on my dealers lot. Asked my MA and he said he went for a drive with a tech. All he said was that their cars that have come in are nosier than previous years and heard nothing concerning a problem.

No complains here... I have been enjoying the sound of the engine at different speed without any parasit noise

I had noticed the noise on one I drove on release day, as did the MA. Just picked up mine a couple of hours ago, and no noise that I can hear.

Mine continues to be quiet, despite daily use of the sunroof. I now have about 1500 miles on Zippeee!, all in about a week and a half, and all within about 100 miles of home. The funny thing is I work out of my home--no commuting miles.

luck of the Irish...

Interesting to hear the feedback. I have driven 3 sparkling silver/black MCS ("release" cars) at various dealerships and all had wind noise issues.
-The only other MCS I drove was blue and it had NO wind noise. This leads me to believe the special release cars have a unique problem (pre-production quality control?)
At any rate, 2 of the dealerships acknowledge there is an issue and are perplexed. Why won't someone at Mini jump in a offer a fix? Not enough critical mass complaining about the preview cars?
The irony is I really want one of the release cars as it's fits my needs spot-on. Oh well.

The only thing I can comment on regarding wind noise in my MCS is there is a little noise on windy days when I get hit by a cross wind on the expressway. I don't have any noise from the roof any other time and even then it is very faint like wind whistling around the house on a windy winter night.

I am not sure if I am supposed to hear this type of noise or not, but after reading the concerns on this forum I am hyper sensitive to every sound my car makes now.

I've never had a car that didn't produce noise from strong gusts of wind. That's acceptable to me. I feel much better that the problem has been rectified.

noise and drag co.

Noise is to be expected in a car as blocky as the Mini but what I hear is specifically moonroof related. It can be dampened by stuffing rolled rags in the recesses in the underside of the front moonroof.
Might get some official Mini bandanas for the job!!

I brought my car to dealer for loud noises that seemed to be coming from sunroof. They heard it also at speeds over 50 mph. They taped the roof closed, but still got the same noise. They took off the antenna and the noise stopped.

sunger, what did they do then, put a shorter antenna on? I've seen some stubby antennas for sale.

Another noisy moonroof

I picked up my MCS about 3 weeks ago. For the first drive, I didn't open the moonroof and windnoise didn't enter my consciousness. Then I opened the roof (and broke the seal?). Since then windroar has been intrusive but its level is unpredictable. It increases with speed, but seems worse with crosswinds on a windy day. The sound has a swirling quality.

My MA has been helpful. We drove another car to compare. It also had the noise. They then adjusted the roof and it appeared to diminish the noise to acceptable levels. Any sense of what causes for the noise? I'd prefer to know before starting what could be endless rounds of fiddling.

Teething issues on new production... For all that it's sure a fun drive.

I've the same problem and am going to take my car back next week to have it checked. Did they actually manage to adjust the roof and cure the problem?

On the comparison car at the dealership, their adjustment of the REAR panel of the moonroof seemed to make the noise diminsh to an acceptable level of intrusion. However, since the noise is worse or better unpredictably, it is hard to know whether their fix is what did it, or just being lucky. Previous posts talked about temporary fixes. That's why I'd prefer to know what's causing the issue. As more people weigh in, I expect that someone will hit on the cause.

when i test drove the release cars the noise was definately there. i picked my mcs with lounge a few days ago and i havent heard any noise. so it seems the problem is sporadic and affects only the early cars? i have openned and closed my sunroof many times already

Mines certainly quieter than the release cars, but there is definitely a noise at 70 - 75mph

I guess I'm lucky--no noise.

I have heard of one person whose sunroof was noisy, then the antenna was removed. Noise gone. Something to think about!
