I think that's illusion. When I get my 2007 MCS, I'll have my wife's 2004 MC to compare against and measure. I'll be putting together something next week.

 

The cars are the same height. The R56 has more suspension travel, so I think that would have to show up in the wheel wells, no?

It might be (and I think you might be right---bigger wheel arches, or somthing)... but I would have to say that every R56 I've seen sure looks like it needs about a 1" drop right out of the box. It'll be done within days of taking delivery of mine.
