Early Release?

Please dont get mad at me for this. i really dont believe it and will have a hard time driving 45 minutes to confirm it.I talked to my local dealer and they said they HAVE an 07 now. To drive. i pressed, and found out that it is a Convertible. This all began with them telling me i can schedule a test drive of the new 07 hardtops on sat FEB 10. what the heck?i even challenged her, saying that all i have read says that mini will not allow it until the 17th.Brecht Mini, So Cal, San Diego area. i forget the girls name. i wish i would have written it down.for me, i guess it really doesnt matter since i will not be ordering until march at the earliest. i would really like the drive an Auto S before i order it.

From what I have read/heard there aren't supposed to be any Auto MCS's built until March for the U.S.

Correct. that is what i have read as well. My post is to state that the dealership will have 07's to see and drive before the 17th.

I have an MCS auto on order, and apparently will be getting one of the first arriving at my dealership. Build Week 10, just got a production number yesterday. Aside from maybe the press event, it's pretty unlikely you'll see an MCS auto before mid-April, and later as you work your way west.

Kind of a bummer the dealer got your hopes up regarding the 07 by not revealing it's a convertible right away. As I'm sure you know, the convertibles are the same as the last few years' model, just new colors. On the upside, i got to see Lightning Blue in the flesh by going to the dealership to see it on a convertible.

Dealer in town called me today. The turbo is in their dealership and I'll be driving it tomorrow or Saturday. They have a part coming in for it Friday that was busted in shipping.

i am sorry if my posts are confusing.
i realize that an 07 auto S will not be around until april-may if the press releases are true. ie march build then shipping and prep....

The reason for my post and my confusion, is that this dealership is saying that the 07 will available for viewing and driving on the 10th. a full week before the "official release" date of the 17th. I thought this was pretty big news if it was indeed true because everything that i have read on NAM and motoringfile has said that the general public wont be able to see/drive/buy until the 17th.

i'll go ahead and drop this after this post...... sorry all

Brecht Mini

kookmyers: I ordered my auto MCS from Brecht Mini about a month ago. Did you talk to a younger women named Iyshia, perhaps? (Pronounced ayeesha). I can't imagine they would allow test drives of the '07s before the official launch date, especially since I haven't even been notified of any kind of launch event (which seems to be the norm at every other dealership in the country).

Side note for jmelrose: When did you order your auto MCS? I asked my MA for an ETA on the production number a few days ago, and haven't gotten an email back yet. I'm frustrated at the total lack of follow-up or courtesy calls. I just want my production number, darnit!

That seems possible... but I would guess it's a late production '06 'vert... since they didn't change anything on the convertibles for 2007. Different colors availible (and the "Sidewalk" package), but that's really it. Same-same.

Now if you see the hardtop early... I'll be jelous! Just get lots of pics and post 'em here!

I think it'll be unlikely to get test drives before the 17th. In the Uk many people tried but MINI/BMW were on the lookout and were prepared to put in some stiff penalties. The occasional person got a sneak preview and maybe got to sit in a car at the dealer but few if any go a test drive ahead of time.

Could be different in the US of course, though if I was a dealer and my franchise was at stake, I'd think twice.

Boy do I feel your pain there. I felt like I was waiting forever. My MA can be pretty slow to respond to emails, and I ended up getting the PN by calling and by chance talking to a different MA who asked what I needed, I told her, and she looked it up for me.

My MA did mention the Week 10 production group just opened up on Tuesday, that it may take a while for the PN to be recognized by the owner's lounge, and that there's weren't many slots available in March.

I hope that's of some help to you!

Thanks, jmelrose. Any information is better than none. I understand the reasons for my not having a production # right now, I was just hoping my MA would tell me when I might expect getting it. I feel so out of the loop.

Congrats on getting your production #! Hopefully the ability to track your Mini will make the wait a bit easier.

A person I spoke with at the dealer in Mountain View, CA said that they'd have '07s (probably) on the 15th, but no driving or buying until the 17th.
