today i got an email from the MINI dealer in my area about coming to an unveiling of the '07 MINI. Does anyone know what will be happening at these events (can I drive it???)?

 

Havent gotten anything from mine.. I hear the MINI's arent even getting into until the day of launch or after.. i would expect them to prep it a bit..

 

its on the 18th of feb, so i dunno. maybe this is just my dealership???

 

East bay Mini have their VIP event on Feb 23.....doesn't mention if you can drive 'em or not

I got an e-mail late yesterday from my dealer (New Country MINI) for an unveiling on the evening of Feb 16.

 

I'm expecting to drive home on the 17th, that is launch day. MA still believes that is the case. I know my Mini is in Charleston.

 

Global Imports in Atlanta is going to be holding their rollout party on Feb 21st and Ive heard a big wig from Mini North America may be there.

when the launch happened over here there were lots of dealerships doing launch nites with wine cheese but the first nite there were no test drives i waited a day or 2 before getting a test drive , then the dealer called about 5 times asking if i had made my mind up on getting a new car

 

Yeah wine and cheese + 175 hp equals regret.

 

All of the U.K. unveilings that were written about at Mini2 were simply a chance to come in ahead of the general public to look the new cars over. Test drives weren't allowed until the official launch, which for most dealerships was the day after the unveiling party.

That would put a damper on the launch. The body shop isn't a good place to have an unveiling!
