What is the red on the top of the tach?

Maybe I've missed something along the way but what is this red bit on top of the Tac?
Photo is the from Detriot auto show and was from an 07 MCS.

Did you notice if the car had an alarm? Maybe that's where they put the blinking "armed" light.

Cool -- if it is the Flux-capaciter I'd think I'll to go back to 1969 and scare the beegeebers out of Classic mini owners.
I'd love hear what they would say about how the R56 has spoiled the pedigree!

It is only Detriot at Halloween. Or whenever one of their teams wins a championship.

Looks like the alarm light to me, too.

Maybe it's like a turkey temperature guage for the Turbo. It pops when it gets too hot.

It is indeed the alarm indicator. It pulses slowly for the first 16 minutes after locking the car, then pulses using less LED's and at a faster rate after this. It is seriously cool. Makes the car seem alive evn when parked.

Hmmm, I wonder if it could be rewired with a switch so that you could light it up - continuously - at will. Could come in handy for getting those dumb-***** out of the left lane at night when you want to pass.
