Going to detroit to see R56?

Just wondering how many people are going to go to detroit to see the R56. I will be up there sunday the 14th.

Yep, I'll be making my annual trek - but I wouldn't go NEAR the place on the weekend - it's way too crowded. I'll sneak down some weekday evening.

We were very pleasantly surprised last year when we went on opening day (to the public) and it was one of the smallest crowds I've seen there in the 3 or 4 years that I've gone. We're going to risk it again this year, and we'll be there early Saturday afternoon. Its a 3 hour drive up, so weekends are really the only option.

If anyone goes up and HAPPENS to see a Lightning Blue, perhaps with a Tuscan Beige interior, and maybe even with an Aero Kit, and can grab 20-30 photos (like a CSI crime scene), that would be greatly appreciated.

Or, photos of any of the above individually would also be welcomed. :-)

I'll second the motion for interior seat shots. I haven't seen the US style Sport seat and I'm wondering what it's like. I think the structure is identical whether regardless of the covering.-- Is that correct?
Thanks.

Ok, so having seen the orange little circle turn indicator lights, what are my street-legal options for making them less... there? I think I prefer my car to be free of "beauty spots." As the Mini marketing press puts it...

How about spec'ing them with the white lenses, like I did?

White lenses are legal as long as you have orange bulbs underneath so they illuminate orange when activated (well, at least here in Washington).

I thought the white lens were for the taillights only. Is there a spot for spec'ing the front ones as well that I've missed in my 234,539 times running through the configurator?

Also, anyone think the website might get an update today with the first US showing at the Detroit show?

I think Mini's even is this afternoon around 1:30pm Detroit time, or sometime thereabouts.

I had the white lenses (std here on MCS) and then put silvered bulds in them to remove the "egg yolk" effect. Before 'n' afters below

Does anyone know if the R56 will also be at Chicago in February? Or was this a Detriot only showing.

I will be at the show tomorrow for supplier preview days. It cost $75 but it is well worth it to me. In past years we have sampled British ale at the RR exhibit, struedels at BMW and free press kits at most display. On top of that, Sir Jackie Stewart will be there challenging people in an F1 simulator.

I cannot wait.

I'm about 90% sure it changes the front and rear.

Any chance of seeing if you can get a hold of a press pack? I have one from paris launch, would be nice to have one from US also.

More than happy to pay postage and "finders fee" (within reason).

They always demand press creditials for those...no such luck for lowly car designers:impatient

Shame, would have been nice to complete the set.

What cars do you design?

BTW love the anthracite wheels on the mellow yellow MINI.

Hmmm - I prefer the head/tail lights with the orange lense - egg yolk if you wish.
