Anthracite Headliner on R56

I am trying to figure out if the anthracite headliner includes darker A, B, and C pillars than the standard one.

I am ordering A DS\B MCS with the Tuscan Beige Interior, but the contrast of the light grey pillars concerns me. I think if the anthracite darkens them then that would be a better option.

I know that the MINIUSA site says that it darkens it, but the picture in the configurator does not change, and I can't seem to find pictures of it anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

MA said it was as dark as the 06 was. If you look close the new models don't change hardly anything when you build them. The areo kit or nothing changes when you add them.

None of the ones at the dealership I go to has the anthracite headliners, so I don't really have a reference point.

Thanks for the info. I am going to go ahead and add it. I will just assume that the description is correct about the pillars being darker.

I'm 99% sure it darkens everything above the beltline inside the car.

The UK configurator shows the pillars changing with the headliner and all the new controls up there: http://www.mini.co.uk/UK/index.htm

I'm sure I've seen pics of it somewhere, too... but I'll be darned if I can tell you where.

I would recomment posting a question on www.MINI2.com to make 100% sure (since it's mostly frequented by UK MINI owners who are getting thier cars now).

AH is one of the classiest interior options you can pick. I love it.

msh441, Thanks for the advice. I will check there as well, but based on everyone's comments here I think I have made up my mind to have it added. I am looking for a classy interior with some contrast and consistency.

I appreciate all of your comments.

I can confirm that it does make everything above the waistline black as I have one in my R56 MCS. There are some pics in my gallary that you can see this on. I can take others if you wish.

For the other bits, I went for a dark grey colourline with piano black inserts and chrmoe line interior, it looks really good, elegant and classy (IMHO)> Unfortuantley I don't think you can get the Lounge leather seats in the US (not certain though).

Thanks R56MCS. I think I saw some of your pics over at MINI2, and it does look real classy. I thought I had seen the AH before, but I couldn't find it again, now I know it was on your car.

Since we can't get the same style lounge seats over here I decided to go with a bit more contrast with the tuscan biege and cream white trim. I just needed something to tie it all together and the AH looks like it will do the trick.

I LOVE the antracite headliner on my '06 (that has darker A, B and C pillars). Adding that light grey to the interior puts one more color into what is (IMHO) a very busy interior. The anthracite headliner removes focus from the roof, giving more space for the rest of the interior design to shine.

It can make it feel more claustraphobic though.

Thought this animated gif I made for myself showing the standard and a faked anthracite headliner may be useful to others:

AH covers everything. Its a must have. Grey healiner is not as rich looking and does take focus away from rest of interior especially if you have dressed up your interior. Go for it--cheap upgrade at $200.

I'll likely be importing some euro spec ones so I don't have to get my hands too dirty. They also have (the now deleted in the US) storage straps as well.

Easily one of the coolest things I've seen on NAM!!! Nice gif!

I got the anthracite headliner on mine because I think it ties the whole interior together. Not sure why it's not standard. I looks SOOOOOO much better.

If you DO go with the standard light gray headliner, the gotham gray door panels look much nicer than the dark gray ones IMO. Of course probably not with the tuscan beige leather...
