R56 Screw to Turbo - a quiz
Screw to Turbo - a quiz
Because the R52 Cabrio will enjoy extended play while its redesign plays catchup to the R50 & R53 coupes, Mini'll likely be the only car to ever have the same Model in production* offering a choice of supercharger or turbocharger.
If you relax the simultaneously part of the above statement, what other models of car were available in in both supercharger and turbocharger?
Please one answer per player. Bonus points if you don't use a search engine to figure it out.
* I know the R56 shares almost no parts with its predecessor. Same is probably true of the answers. Just focus on the model names.

The Lancia Delta S4 was homologated with turbo and supercharger for the road, but with much less boost.
Yep the Delta S4 & the 037 before it. Wonderful beastie of a car. Too bad only 200 examples were produced.

I don't know if it's an urban legend or not...
but I'd heard that one of the Lancia drivers stopped during a race to pee. Came back from behind a tree and someone had diven off in his car! REall funny (Except to the driver) but I don't see how it could have happened.

Henri Toivonen is the legend
Sounds like an urban legend to me.
Henri Toivonen & Sergio Cresta were both killed in '86 when their Delta S4 left the road while leading the Tour of Corsica rally.
No one witnessed the accident. No cause for the crash & subsequent fire was ever found. That was the final nail in the group B rally car coffin.

Yes but not at the same time. Those Lancia's had a turbo & supercharger on the engine at the same time, under the same hood.

Just answering the original question
, actually an aftermarket twincharging kit was offered for the MK1 MR2 but it was expensive and didnt work too well.
Saw pictures of a Lancia rallying, totally awesome ......
==> someone who will restore a Celica Alltrack deserves respect (and a padded cell, but respect none the less!)
, I wanted a new alltrac, and I am going to get one .... the hard way.
Working on a MR2 turbo aint no picnic either.
==> ps, how are the trim parts to find?
Which ones ? Can get the plastic trim but carpet is no longer available. Some stuff is
slowly getting discontinued (and expensive), not surprising since they made a total of 1800 in 4 years.

Tim, the MR2 is one of two I had been thinking of when I posed the question. Does noone else remember another household word of a car that transistioned, this time from a short blast with a turbo to a more substantial run with a blower? Hint- think blue oval.
CL600's are twin turboed as well...
