More 2007 Mini stuff on mini.com

Here are some new pics/info we haven't seen:

http://www.mini.com/com/en/mini_cooper_s/index.jsp

Also check out the first page. In the small pics you can clearly see the JCW kit, and also some other accessories with the 07 mini:

Found this

"And to make MINI maintenance even more convenient, all service information is stored on the MINI remote key. When the MINI is taken in for servicing, the MINI Service Partner can retrieve the data using a key reader and knows instantly what type of work needs to be done."

That is a pretty cool feature.

it also stores information like top speeds, extreme braking and peak RPMs...... These digital watchdogs are potentially disturbing. Some guy has been arrested based on data from his On-Star system that he didn't even know was being taken, sure he was a hit and run criminal (or something like that) but I'd hate to go to Mini and hear "well Matt, that 100 MPH plus run you did last tuesday voided your warranty!"

We're not there yet, but we're real close!

Yeah that sucks. I am sure mini wouldn't void warranties from going high speeds, but they may for driving too long with the oil level low, over-reving , how many times you've dumped the clutch at 3k, etc... That would suck.

I agree...but on some level it makes sense if used appropriately, does it not? For those driving sanely it will provide a wealth of useful diagnostic information. I'm all for that. The tricky bit: where is the line between "sane" and "insane" crossed? Lots of folks here like to "drive like ya stole it"...but not all. On the other hand, MINI is intentionally marketing a pocket-rocket...what do they expect?

Of course they say everything's available only from pre-November 2006 models, but the video intro is interesting

Its called CBS, Control Base Services. We have this for the newer bmws right now. Tells you everything about the services needed for the vehicle with milage to when that service is going to be due.
