Windshield Cowl Seal Replacement help

So after 10 years, its time to yet again replace the windshield cowl.

Back in 2018 I only replaced the two large trim pieces as below

This time for 2025, I need to replace both the trim pieces above and the long rubber weatherstrip on the base of the windshield

This is the problem - this rubber strip wont hold on to the glass and keeps falling off. Its not an easy push in.

Any actual experience on getting this installed appreciated.

ok looks like I solved it. I cut and removed the entire lower rubber appendage that would sit under the glass and firewall. May have been a residual from manufacturing. I can see how it would be easier to install this with the windshield off the vehicle.

Anyway, problem solved

Sometimes the sealing material from the windshield being replaced (betalink) or windseal rubber needs cut back a little on the underside of the glass.

Yep safelite and some other repair places are known to use too much window seal and it comes out the bottom of the seam between the window and body. I had mine done and their screwed up multiple times on my R56 and R58.

I had them break the A pillars cover and then they did not tell me. I found out when i looked at the job afterwards and they use wind seal to adhere the a pillars back on. They cover the cost of the new ones when i reported it.

Trimming the bottom rubber flap for the entire length of the seal did the trick.

We also had to have the wind shield removed and reinstalled due to too much sealant.
