Is there any trim piece that needs to get replaced when the windshield is replaced? I called two different auto glass places. The first said they had the windshield but no trim piece and they'd have to wait until Monday to order the trim piece. The second place said they didn't have a windshield and were unsure of a trim piece needing to be replaced. They called someone and they told them no trim needed to be replaced, just reuse the old trim.

So which way is the right way?

I can't say I know what the right way is, but I have had my windshield replaced and the glass place ordered and replaced the side moldings on either side of the windshield. I was told that they may get damaged in removal. It didn't really make a difference to me as I payed my deductible and insurance picked up the rest of the tab.

Just make sure that your autoglass people get the moldings back on tightly! Mine was not, and when I started driving the car again I had a horrible creaking at speed. Six days after the windshield had been replaced (and the day the glass guys were supposed to come by to take a look at the creak) one of the moldings flew off my car while I was on the interstate. Then I had to drive my poor defaced car for 2 weeks waiting for the part to come in again.

Are they screwed on or glued on?
