2007 R56s JCW turbo and exhaust manifold

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum so I may be just re-creating an old post here but I currently have a 2007 Cooper S and I have sourced a JCW turbo, exhaust manifold, downpipe and intake tube that I am wanting to install.

My question is really can these all be installed without getting a tune on it and have the car run without worry of blowing something up? or do I need a tune to prevent the engine from random and rapid disassembly?

I've seen a few posts on this but no one that I had seen has given a straight answer as to whether I can expect the engine to just explode when I give it a boot full?

Thanks to everyone in advance

Installing what you listed can be done without a tune without serious repercussions, but you will get a engine light for the downpipe unless its a stock cat. You may experience "overboost" engine codes as well, but you will most likely have no issues. You wont et the pressure you would need to blow up your engine with a JCW turbo, maybe with a RPMPower Turbo - but thats only if the ECU doesnt stop you with limp mode before it could happen.

Thank you for your reply, that's good news that I can put it all on then, the cat is a stock JCW one but idk if that will make a different for the CEL, I can live with the light for a while. I'm a student so can't really afford the tune in the short term but would like to have something done later down the line. Definitely need a bigger intercooler before thinking about a tune tho.

You wont get a light with the stock JCW Cat, you would if you got an aftermarket sport cat or catless downpipe.
Get a Gplus intercooler from ebay, its cheap but the quality and performance is above its pay grade.

Is Gplus a brand of intercooler that is easily findable or will I need to do quite a bit of looking around to find one?
