2007 R56 Mini standard, non-sport; auto trans; 126,000 miles; runs fine
Took Cooper to dealer (two hours away) to analyze noise, found a/c line was loose and vibrating, there is supposed to be a mount that fixes vibration, not in stock, waiting for a call.
Anyone ever heard of a "weight" that can be installed on the vibrating a/c line to stop the vibration? $277.35
MEANWHILE: Vacuum pump leaking, needs to be replaced, $580.59. Can I replace the vacuum pump myself? Anything critical about replacing it that needs anything other than the usual hand tools and a 6-pack?

Thanks,
Old guy in rural Virginia
What is the weight they use? They give you a part number? I think that is what's vibrating on mine. I'd like to try it out. Thanks
Yes, looks as though it is very simple to install. I watched a couple of YouTube videos that showed removing allo sorts of lines, etc. Then, I looked at mine -- it's sitting there in plain view on the front of driver's side of the engine. I will not have to do anything but remove the vacuum line by depressing its clip and moving it out of the way. See my two photos -- one shows the pump, the other shows one of the two mounting blots that are very easy to get to. And YES, it's leaking -- oil seeping out in a couip0le of places.
The rattling AC line.
THANKS FOR THE PART # and photos. I'll get right on it.
I knew I was coming to the right place for help; will post again when finished.
It looks as though the weight simply clamps around the a/c line and keeps it from rattling. Is there a Mini service bulletin on this? Guess I clamp the weight on the line, drive Cooper for a while, if it's not fixed, move the weight around until I find the sweet spot??
The photo showing the weight in place around the a/c hose -- is this from UNDER the car or ON TOP? Where?
I do not find an a/c hose running around the top of my Cooper engine compartment but do find two -- one steel, one rubber -- running on the passenger side of the engine front to rear, then turning behind the engine into the area from which the noise is coming. The steel hose seems to be rigidly in place which the rubber hose moves when I poke it with a wooden dowel. Looks as though I'll have to get under the car to access these hoses.
Yep the bulletin is linked above, bottom up. Got to go through a couple of those thread, they talk about the install. Yep, get put where that picture shows above.
On the pump, remove those clipped in plugs to make it easier on removal.
We have the seal kit here, MINI does not sell all the seals on their own. I would also check the old one as if the interior is worn I would just replace it so it does not seize and ruin the cam/head
