just bought a 2012 cooper s with rally lights (i think it’s factory equipped)… it’s acting very weird i think…. headlights and foglights are on then i press the button on the left of steering wheel, rally light wouldnt turn on unless i open the drive side door… once i shut the door, the rally light would turn off… does anyone know how can i fix this?

 

If the rally lights are installed per factory instructions, they will only turn on while the the high beams are on in accordance to US lighting laws. Turning on the high beams should also automatically turn off the fog lights.

Maybe the rally lights come without the high beams when the door is open as a convenience for extra light while the car is not moving?

 

fixed! rechecked the wiring to the footwell module, ended up one of the wire was tapped into the wrong PIN
