rally light help!?

so i just got my mini cooper not to long ago, and it has the rally lights installed. I cant seem to get them to work, i know they come on with the high beams only but i get nothing(i tried all sorts of combos). there is a switch installed to the left of my steering by the shelf. it has a headlight switch picture with a 2 on it!? anyone know what this is for?

I tried too see if i can replace the bulbs but i have not idea how to take them out?

i read all the light threads but found nothing?

any info would be greatly appreciated

My first move would be to get out there with a multimeter and see if I'm at least getting power to the wires at the light.

Is there a light on the button that illuminates? If you get no light..fuse probably went bye bye. Also are they the OEM Rally lights?

yes there is a light and it comes on whenever i turn my lights on, and yea there the oem rally lights. that why i figured it might be the bulbs? but it seems rare that they both would be burnt out? plus i it seems impossible to replace the bulbs since its one giant mirrored case with glass in the front.

Did they work when you picked the car up? Did you buy from a dealer? New? Used?

Hmmm. Soo green light is on..hit high beams...and nothin eh? I second the ideal of multimeter'ing the wire going to your lights to see if you get power.

If they are OEM lights, there will be a small screw at the very bottom of the front of the light. Remove the screw and pop the front glass part off the back. Inside, you'll see another small screw that hold the bulb holder to the lens.

DONT touch the bulb with your fingers if you are replacing it.

It's more likely a fuse than both bulbs - I can't see using them enough to burn them out. You should have a small fuse box installed under the hood, near the driver's side pneumatic strut - check to see that it's good.

I'm thinking fuse as well. However, you would also need to figure out what is overloading the circuit.

I don't know how your rally lights were installed, so I can't say exactly where the fuse holder would be located, although in the installation notes, it states that the fuse holder would be just behind the 12v feed for the lights. (that's how i wired it as well) They also called out a bracket (which I didnt get with the kit) right near the brake fluid reservoir.

You may also need to trace the wires back off the hood and down the hinge. There will be three red wires, one is slightly larger than the other two. This is the 12v. The other two branch off to the power the lights.
Somewhere on that larger 12v wire will be the fuse holder. (assuming the installer wired it right).
