R56 No oil pressure
No oil pressure
Hey guys, picked up a 2012 JCW with the N14, supposed bad motor. Nice replacement for my old 2013 that was totaled a few months ago.
Noticed all of the valves were at the same height, so retimed it. It runs, but has 0 oil pressure. Not low, just none at all.
Put a new engine oil filter in and it was dry, before and after. I've run it for a solid 30 seconds which is all I'm comfortable with. It's obviously making quite a racket.
Thoughts? Going to try sticking in a new oil pump tomorrow, I have a couple used units with low miles.

Dropped the pan today
No debris in the pickup, chain is still connected to the pump and spins it, removed pump and spun it with a drill, it will pump water which is obviously quite a bit less viscous. There was a HUGE piece of timing guide in the pan, looks like around 3/4 of the upper guide.
I'm lost.
Does the oil filter housing have a bypass that could cause this? I have a few random ones.

2012 JCWs had N14s still, whereas the S or JCW Tuning package cars had N18s.
Reading oil pressure by sound and the fact there isn't oil getting to the oil filter, or top end, or bottom end.
BUT!
I spun the oil pump over again today and it barely moved anything. Stuck a used low mileage pump in and it was off to the races. Still have a thermostat code, and a few other random issues but it's looking and sounding very nice. Really nice running car even with its original 76,000 mile old sparkplugs.
I put in a parts order today for $300, see how far that gets us.
