R56 N18 Exhaust recomendation

Hello guys! I have a 2013 r56 N18 MCS with literally a full straightpipe turbo back, and tbh sounds awesome to a certain level, the big problem is my neighbors have 2 babies and thw cold start on this cart is stupid loud, and when sometimes i just wanna be quier it is almost imposible. I was wondering what was the best choice as in to quiet it down a bit, a muffler or a resonator?

I was thinking of going either with a Borla or Magnaflow muffler( since its a custom echaust), or going with a vibrant ultra quiet resonator? I dont want to quiet it down all the way since i like it being loud, dont wanna be too quiet yet, too young for that

any recomendations? And if you can leave some videos of your cars!! Wanna hear all of them out!!

Hello friend!
If you have a str8 pipe OFC its stupid loud axxa
However i dont believe there is any way to reduce enough the noise of the cold start since cold start its always loud. So if you want to have a lot/enough sound except cold start that wont be possible.
If you have low DB on cold start you will have low DB while driving as well. :/

So if you have str8pipe maybe the only way would be to put an exhaust with resonator+muffler(maybe stock JCW) and make an electric valve(something like this https://www.deaperformance.com.au/p/...E-EXHAUST/VK12 )...
So when in cold start you use ur low noise exhaust and when you dont care about sound you open the valve.

PS: Your tuner can adjust some noise makers...Ask him if its possible to adhust somehow the cold start like they do with pops/bangs...Maybe its possible!

I have the JCW and was very discrete. Now with the catless Downpipe it sounds really good.

That something i was planning on doing on the long run tbh, an electric valve, thats one goal sounds amazing if you think about it, best of both worlds

I was thinking of putting an vibrant ultra quiet resonator since my exhaust is basically made in a muffler shop, and i dont have that kind of money for q complete $1k exhaust, just wanted to quiet ir down a bit and give it a nice tone, not so raspy

Major coincidence, I have an N18 MCS and I just recently replaced my downpipe-back exhaust with a Vibrant Ultra-Quiet resonator (#4011 I think). I still have the stock downpipe, but I think I have a solution to your cold-start issues. As someone else alluded to, you can use NCS Expert, an ECU coding software for BMW’s, to change the cold-start procedures and other things like how much it backfires. I’m still figuring out how to use NCS Expert before I purchase it ($15) but it’s something you can do yourself with a windows laptop and the right OBD2 cable. Maybe someone else reading this has somebody it before? A local BMW/Mini shop could also reprogram the startup procedures for you.

In the meantime, I will post a few videos of my car. I 100% recommend this setup with the stock DP and the Vibrant UQ resonator. It’s not deafeningly loud and it doesn’t drone, but it’s very audible when you step on it, it’s much deeper than stock, and it burbles and backfires WAY MORE than stock. It’ll cost $90 for the resonator and probably $50-60 to install it. The cold start isn’t quiet, but again, NCS Expert or a similar program will change that. If it’s similar to other BMW programs, it should also allow you to reduce the amount of soot/cabon in the exhaust(look at the inside of you exhaust tip lol) by eliminating the parts of the tune that preserve the catalytic converters.
