R56 exhaust setup on a r53 (with a hint of jcw)

Alright guys so ive been looking everywhere and i cant seem to find this setup but im sure its been done before. okay so i recently did the one ball mod on my r53 and to be honest i was a little disappointed in the sound, it was definatley louder but not by a large margin. I looked up doing a straight pipe setup on the r53 and it has too much terrible sounding backfire, my freind however has a r56 jcw and deleted his resinator, (it sounds beautiful by the way) so After doing alot of research on different setups and what not im gonna try something new, i want to do a almost a straight pipe setup, im deleting both my mufflers and making it setup like a r56 but im welding the r56 jcw resonator back on. I wanted to know what you guys thought and maybe any info on people who have had this done. ill post a video and pictures if people are interested.

well people have done complete straight throughs before by removing the battery box.

but the R56 and R53 exhausts are tonally different more than just because of the exhaust.

After all not only are they entirely different motors... one also happens to have a built-in magical unicorn generator that also serves as a muffler as a side benefit. This is a small unicorn generator, so its muffling power is even more profound (For those going wtf.. i am speaking about the turbo on an R56)

The R53 however has a blower on the intake, so it makes a crap tonne of exhaust flow (and therefore noise) but with no turbine in the exhaust stream there is nothing to re-capture this energy, so it is just all noise. And it is loud as crap.

Honestly it takes a good bit of work to muffle the R53 exhaust, and a clever strategy to make it pronounced, smooth, and aggressive, without sounding bleh in my opinion.

go for it an try the straight pipe with a resonator, but be warned, it is probably going to be stupid levels of loud. haha. (or still extremely restrictive. I honestly have no idea as to the internal setup of the R56 resonator)

my first straight through setup was 3 vibrant ultraquiet resonators all in line with 2.5" exhaust tubing, and it put the header dumped zo6 corvette and the cutouts-open E46 M3 to shame in terms of noise level stupidity. sounded awesome at idle though! (even loud there though... haha)

It was un-driveable without a helmet or ear plugs north of 3K RPM in any sort of load IMO (much less violating all sorts of noise ordinances) and I ended up putting an actual muffler back in the exhaust within the weak. (still a straight through, but it look a HUGE chuck of the sound volume out. used magnaflow straight-through mufflers (perforated tube style)

Original exhaust -
was way to loud. The muffler leaning up next to it brought it back in line nicely.

i agree 100% with soccer, the r53 and the r56 will always sound different. the Turbo muffles quite a bit of sound. if both cars dumped right fromt he header/down pipe, r53 would completly drown out the r56, this is why alot of turbo cars can run straight pipe, the turbo absorbs alot of energy.

to have the same exhaust setup. the battery box will need to be deleted and then the battery relocated... which will take space up somewhere else.

straight pipe sounds great in videos, and i havent experienced it in person

i have the whole magnaflow system catback which is 1 resonator and 2 mufflers. sounds great, but not loud enough for me but it is the loudest catback. i have a new header 4-2-1 catless, and ill see how loud that is, but ill be damn sure both those mufflers are staying. my car shouldnt be louder than either of my bikes..... and my motard can be heard from a mile away easilly.

the magnaflow does drone a little bit at highway speeds, but if the sunroof or windows are slightly open, its no longer a concern.... but it sounds soooo good, i get complimented on it all the time

yea i think im just gonna go for it too see what its like and maybe as a example if others are thinking of trying the same thing, i hope the the r56 jcw resonator gives it a nice agressive loud. Ill post videos and pictures, thanks for the info.
