I replaced the red flapper with a high quality one. It took a bit of force to get the plastic cap to seat. I thought for sure this would solve the leak pictured below:
But it is still leaking all the way down the block and onto my driveway - about 4-5 drops a night.
Any recommendations? Try another one? Replace the valve cover?
I'm frustrated now every time I see more dark spots on the driveway. Help is appreciated.
I've got a small leak myself coming from where the red flapper is. I'm gonna have to inspect. ore on mine to see if just replacing the red piece fixes it.
It sounds like you may need to replace the entire valve cover with a brand new one and not buy a used one. Seeing as you have already replaced the red flapper, the cover may have been distorted due to excessive heat and cooling therefore a complete seal is not possible. It's not something you did wrong. Plastics will always be plastics when it comes withstanding excessive heat.
