R56 help with shifter linkage
help with shifter linkage
I have a 2008 base with 6speed. Ive had the drivetrain out of it for 7 months and finally got it back in last night. Im trying to hook the shifter linkages with brackets back to the transmission, and I cannot remember how this all pieces together. Does anyone have a picture? All I can find online are the earlier generation linkage pictures.
Yes its been apart for a long time. Bought it with some engine issues, pulled the drive train out to fix it, and then got busy with other projects. Finally got back on it a week or two ago..New timing chain, rebuilt head, clutch, flywheel, all that jazz.

Thank you. My main issue was the black square rubber guide fell off and I couldn't remember how it went back on there haha. The car is pretty much back together now, just need to put the axles back in and a few trim pieces.
Well now I have another issue. The shifter goes into all gears as it should but the transmission itself is not engaging any gears. I can put the shifter in any gear and still spin the axles by hand with the vehicle off. Did I put the linkage bracket on the wrong spline to the transmission? If so, how do you know which spline it should be on, all the splines are the same so there is not just one way the bracket can go onto the spline.

Wow, you're absolutely right. Talk about a brain fart. I cant believe that slipped my mind. Thanks for the reply
