short throw shifter?

Hello, I drive a 04 base and the shifter feels sloppy, I want that tight feeling that my friend has on his car. He has a b and m shifter on his is300 let us. Any recommendations on the mini?

Interested by this as well. I would go for a B&M if I could (had one on my previous car), but they no longer make them for the Mini... I find it sad that they've stopped making them as the market for the Mini only got bigger since then....

I was looking at TWM, but it's been a while since it's saying: Coming soon...

As am I. the shifting feel from my Miata and MGB are what I miss most with my 05 S. I've become very cautious on the 5th to 4th downshift, 2nd comes way to easy. And that's scary.

Helix short throw shifter

Any feed back on the Helix short throw shifter? Does it tighten up the feel?

My HELIX short throw shift adapter has been in service for almost 8 years and thousands of shifts. Mine's as tight as the day I installed it but I can't say that it will firm yours up. The short shift adapter just changes the fulcrum point, thereby changing the length of throw.

Sounds good, thanks Trackrat, I think I'll get one ordered and give it a try.

i ordered the Megan short throw kit off ebay. It was 50 bucks shipped and i installed it into a shift linkage i had laying around. I personally think that the Mini has probably the "sloppiest" shifter I've ever owned, but then again I suspect that i attribute that to it being cable driven and thus comes with a tad bit of 'slop' from the factory (mini gurus, please correct) and the fact that i have 180KM on my transmission.

Once spring rolls around I'll install the linkage, shifter and hopefully anything else i can do to tighten up the transmission.
