I'll be taking delivery on a sweet MCS next week, as long as the mechanical check is clean.

I want to get a code reader. What reader specific to Mini and BMW do you recommend?

I need tires, I think some of you went away from the run-flat tires. What do you carry with you? Spare or plugs and small compressor?

My car has a JCW body kit and the first thing I want to modify is a new exhaust. Seems that it's hard to find a OEM JCW exhaust. Any insight into this? If I can't find the OE JCW exhaust, I like the look of the Alba exhaust, or the way the tips look. Any recommendations here? I had a previous magnaflow on my Jetta and Mazda. I want quality and a bit more aggressive sound like the OE JCW exhaust. Nothing with crazy loud.

Finally, it has a K&N panel filter and I've had open intakes before and had some issues with water getting into the engine. Anything with better airflow, but protected from any potential water issues?

Sorry for all the questions, but super excited. I've been wanting a Cooper for several years and the time is right for being able to afford mods.

Lots of threads on here about ditching the RFT (I did as well), look around. As for me, have AAA. I got to thinking about the last time I changed a flat tire, decades ago. At any rate, am too old to be changing a flat.

I am on non-RFT but in case of a flat will rely on Tirerack/Continental's road hazard warranty and roadside assistance program.

JCW exhaust is hard to find but definitely worth it, IMO a great balance between better tone without being too loud. You could always buy a brand new one from ECS or other vendors: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/18307646678/

K&N panel filter isn't the open intake, it would still be a closed system reusing the stock intake housing. The intake is at the back of the engine compartment so pretty unlikely to get major water soak if you did run an open system. DDM race intake is a closed system option.

Welcome

Yes we can still get you the JCW exhaust, but it is heavy and expensive.
I use and recommend the Akrapovic. But also like the Quicksilver on the R56 like yours.

Leaning towards the Alta or JCW exhaust. Don't really like the larger tips of the Akrapovic and Quicksilver.

Lots of threads on tires in the Tires, Wheels, and Brakes section. I carry a Viair compressor and dynaplug kit (see Amazon), last year I picked up a huge screw in the right front and had to plug it. Was back on the road in 15 minutes.

I have the Schwaben scanner from ECS Tuning (rebranded Foxwell 150), it handles all the BMW/MINI specific stuff. Nice little tool, there's a review thread about it somehwere.

+1 on Schwaben for the scan too. I have AAA but run BF Goodrich tires (non-runflats) and have a slime kit along with plugs just in case.

I have the JCW tuning kit and so have the JCW tuning kit exhaust. It is a bit louder than the stock JCW exhaust, which I would have preferred, but I love the look of the tuning kit exhaust tips.

Ditch the runflats. Ski bum has the tire answer, Dynaplug and compressor (dynaplug has a great small sized unit). I put Milltek non-resonated in my 13 MCS and am happy.

also have the Schwaben/ Foxwell and it is good.
