R56 Brake fluid flush and clutch
Brake fluid flush and clutch
If I flush my brake fluid will it also get the clutch fluid? Will it eventually dilute the old clutch fluid with some of the new stuff or once it is in the line a full flush of the line the only way? Thanks
The reservoir is shared between the clutch and brake, at least on my 2011. I did change out my stock brake/clutch fluid for the Torque RT700 fluid. I started by sucking out as much old brake fluid as I could (with a vacuum evacuator) from the reservoir, then refilling with the RT700. I then bled the clutch, refilled the reservoir. Then did the usual brake bleeding procedure of starting furthest away, and ending with the nearest to the reservoir. RR, LR, RF, LF. I am sure I did not get 100% of the old fluid out, but I got as close as I could.
Hope that helps some, and if anyone has a different/better way of doing this, please feel free to post up.

I think I just used my hand to push the piston on the slave with the bleeder open then closed it and let it refill. Did this several times, until fresh fluid came out, IIRC. It was a while ago.... Alternately, you could have someone work the clutch pedal, just like you would when having someone work the brake pedal when bleeding that system.

I really didn't notice a difference in clutch feel, but definitely felt a more solid brake pedal. Could have been due to new fluid and bleeding alone, and not the fluid used. But I like the higher boiling point of the RT700, and I believe it is non-hygroscopic.
Just read on another forum that Torque RT700 may be no longer available. Same fluid as RT700 appears to be Prospeed Motorsport RS683. Long story on that forum. I will try to find again and link....
