Pilot super sports or no?
Well spring will be here before I knew own it and Imake going to have to figure out what tire I'm going to get. The car is a daily driver that I'd like to track a few times this year. I hear everyone talk about the pilot super sports and itm curious if they are worth it or is there somthing better out there?

Assuming 205/45/17 tires, it's pretty hard to find a better daily driver summer tire
than the Michelin PSS.
If cost is a big priority, the Conti DW is a reasonable compromise.
If absolute performance is a big priority, then the Direzza ZII Star Spec or even
the Bridgestone RE-71R (will wear even faster than the ZII) could be your best bet.

There's always something "better" depending on your perspective, desire and wallet. But to answer the title question, do it. There's a reason more than half of us on the forum have a set. For the price, which is reasonable, they are a damned good tire. 95% of people can't drive well enough to notice a difference between PSS and anything "better"

Im currently on my second set of pilot super sports within the last 20,000 miles. I drive my car rather hard and have got to say that I am very impressed with the amount of grip. However I found that at least for me that they wear fairly quickly and am currently looking to switch them out with the Yokohama S - Drives which I've heard mixed reviews. Just giving you my two sense! I guess it depends if you want something sporty or something that will last you awhile.

Also, keep in mind those treadwear ratings are always a bit "optimistic" in terms of estimating the life you will actually get.

The answer to the question PSS is always a resounding "yes". The tire that Michelin designed for the Ferrari 458 should do for most of us. I wasn't even a huge PS2 fan, but the PSS changed the game for multi-purpose street tires, IMHO.
Definitely see if you can take advantage of rebates/discounts on the PSS as it phases out!

I love the PSSs on my R56S. They just won't break loose even in an abrupt turn. Not for cold temperatures though, if your temps get to 36* then these get harder and less gummy. I've got about 25-28,000 on mine now and they are beginning to aquaplane if I hit a puddle at high speed. Getting close to replacement time. But I must admit, it's fun to feel the jiggle and to correct for it when I hit the water (no other cars around, of course).

I ran PSS on my e39 M5, they were amazing awesome tires. It was the only tire I had on that car that could put down the power in 2nd gear on a dry day.
I have yet to experience a tire that had better performance in the rain too than the PSS.
I plan on putting PSS on the Mini once it needs new tires.

They are popular with bigger cars because they come in eleventy billion sizes including some big sizes
I would never run them on the track myself, I would go with something like a hankook rs3 or the new rs4 if I was doing double duty. That new conti extremecontact sport looks like it handles track use better without the horrible chunking that street tires tend to do on the track
