Armrest snap-in phone adapter

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Mini S Bayswater this past weekend. We totally love the car!

The car came with a snap-in phone adapter in the armrest. I can't see myself ever using that. I'd like to take it out to free up space, but I'm not sure how to do that. I don't want to end up breaking the armrest. I've searched for installation instructions, thinking I could do them in reverse, but I can't find anything. Does anyone here know how to get that thing out?

By the way, this is the armrest I have: 51169241205.

Thanks!

There is a release button on the snap in adapter. I looked for instructions but couldn't find any. The release will be on the snap in adapter so you may need a flashlight to see better.

Another bayswater owner! Head over to the bayswater owners club ( https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ners-club.html ) and post some pictures!

As for the armrest I have the same thing and never thought about removing it, but I do know you can tilt the sliding part back after you slide it back. That may show how to remove the insert.

I did notice that the lid flips up. And I did get a little piece out (see pics). Maybe mine didn't have the actual adapter and this is all the room I'm going to be able to make. I thought that since the armrest is so thick that there must be a way to reclaim that space. Maybe not.

Phocine I will definitely check out the Bayswater club!

Nope, I'm just living it it as is. It's a shame that as thick as the armrest is that it barely fits anything inside. Still open for suggestions if anyone has any ideas.

In case you were still trying to figure it out.
1. Slide cover back
2. Pull up on cover so it tilts back
3. Push the big button at the front of the arm rest
4. Lift snap in adaptor from the back side and it will come right out.
They made it like a puzzle... Ha.

Thanks a bunch
I put some change in the centre arm rest 2 years ago, lifted up the arm rest and the change magically disappeared.
I have been trying to figure out how to get the change out without having to tear the whole thing apart.
Rattling was making me crazier than I normally am.
I follow your instructions and I am now flush with $2.50 in cold hard cash and no more rattling.

I got rid of the charger and replaced it with the OEM flat plastic inside cover. PIA to remove but now I have room for my sunglasses.

Which part is that? just got a new to me countryman, it has this arm rest, and there is a plastic cover, which I can remove, but it doesnt free up much space, I too like the OP would love to get rid of that whole charging contraption-or, is there a snap in adapter for modern iphones chargers?
