Deep Growl

Have a 2008 Cooper S Hardtop. New Tires, Rims and Coilovers ( and engine mounts). Already has K and N cold air. Looking to add a down tube, chip and cat back (plan to skip intercoolerand turbo upgrade as I am not tracking it) . Love deep notes, pops, and gurgles - hate raspy, buzzing or drone. IF the JCW exhaust for the F56 fit I would take it... but it don't Ok w spending @ $1,000 or so. Magna Flow, Borla??? Thoughts please

Pops and gurgles don't come standard with the 08 S but Manic Tune can bring it back. I had the fJCW exhaust on my 08 S and it was the best combination of better tone without too much drone on the highway. If you hate drone you will probably have a hard time with a catback plus catless downpipe - the catless downpipe adds a lot of noise in my experience.

Shameless plug for my video comparing the stock S exhaust and the fJCW muffler:

Thanks. Called Mini of Annapolis MD last week and they told me the JCW for the F 56 didn't fit the R 56 - I like the ability to toggle between sound modes. Where did you get your exhaust and what model was it?

I bought it from another member on NAM but it's the same as this product here:
https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...ler/ES2578589/

It's the muffler that comes from the factory JCW models. A local MINI dealer installed it for about $100. In my opinion it sounds much better than stock S exhaust, and it's not as deep/bassy as the Borla or Magnaflow products.

I wish that dual mode JCW exhaust from the F56 was available, sounds awesome. There's a brand called iPE that makes dual mode exhaust for the R56 but I think it's hard to find.

I don't mind the bass (no treble), but agree with you that the IPE gives it all. Bet that comes w a price... any idea what we are talking about? Was hoping to keep it @ 1k for the cat back

I have the Remus Powersound cat-back system on my 2011 MCS, bought lightly used here from another member. I did also remove my resonator and install a straight pipe there. It is not raspy, nor tinny. Nice deep growl. Has manually adjustable "flaps" at the very rear of both exit pipes. I keep them fully open, sounds best that way, in my opinion. Once closed, or partially closed, less noise. I get some amazing pops and burbles at times. But, 2011 is when MINI brought back the "pop and burble" feature, if I am not mistaken, in Sport Mode. I would say that this system sounds great, without spending the coin on a Borla, which was my first choice. With a tune, your 2008 should be able to pop and burble with the best of them!
